Well, got the ST-10 in and nothing fits. Slip yoke has 1/2 inch of clearence from floor, shifter is way too far back (trans hump needs cutting... Ahhhh NO...), and shifter is way out in right field, and now I have no reverse gear... :af:

I mean NO reverse, shift lever moves but nothing moving in the tranny... :blast:

I'm about ready to call http://www.keislerauto.com/gm/transmissions/chevelle_68-72.asp and be done with it... I have a deployment to the sandbox creeping up very quickly (begining of next month) and this need to get done.

Any advise... TKO 500 or 600...

Woodie, I have no Super T10 experience.

Page BUICKGSMAN, he has gone the TKO route. He had pics here before the last web pirate messed up the board. Pretty major sugery to the tunnel.

    Woodie,

Dumb question, Does the trans have multiple shifter locations like the Muncie? If so, is it mounted in the forward position?

That would be my first quess.

Next would be the shifter. Since lots of these trans came in F-bodies, the shifter is located more in the center of the tunnel as you are describing. If memory serves, there is an aftermarket shifter available for the T-10 in an A-body. Think it was a MR Gasket part. If you end up going this route, get the install kit as well. The shift rods would be shorter.

Let us know how it comes out. Also an e-mail address while your overseas.

I bought the 600. Ilike the 1st gear ratio but I thinks (what am I , a pirate)both have options on the 1st gear and OD ratios. Several choices on the shifter position too
Some pics from my thread: 5-speed Wildcat

Here is where I bought it. Did I mention i like the 2.87 1st gear? Keisler

Well, I think I'm going to order an M-22, Auto gear case sealed and rollerized firs, but I'm stuck on gear ratios...

    2.56, 1.75, 1.37, 1.00...
    or
    2.20, 1.51, 1.17, 1.00...

I'm thinking about the 2.56 for more off the line... :3gears:

    Any sugestions??? :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:

I have come to realize that I refuse to cut or notch the floor at all... and to get the ST-10 shifter to fit, I need to notch the floor about 1 1/2 inches, so no t-10... Guess Ill save it for my next project that wont be so rare...

    Woodie,

Mark is correct on the ratio. I've got the same in my '69 Stage 1, w/3.31 rear gears. Very happy with the performance off the line, OD would be nice, maybe I'll find a gear venders unit priced right.

    super t10 swap

I am currently using a super t10 tranny in place of the muncie. car is a 70 cutlass that I did a 4 speed swap on, but everything will be the same as on a skylark / gs. I took the shifter bracket from the muncie and moved it to the t10. I do believe that I had to re-orientate the bracket or the shifter, don't remember exactly which, but the housing already has the holes for doing this. Everything else pretty much fell into place and all gears are obtainable although I do have to use a bit more force going into reverse but not by much. I think the reverse rod is just a tad to short as the adjustment of the rods is at the very end and once I did get it to the end it did make going into reverse easier. Remember these are the rods that were originally with the muncie, not sure if there is a specific rod to use with the s t10 tranny. Overall I have no complaints so will not bother to change out the rods. Will be doing the same swap in my 70 skylark and will be going s t10 tranny again. Let me know if you need pics or other info.
