Has anyone used these? How hard are they to install and how close are they to original? Do they come with clips? I think my wife is getting me some for Christmas and I kinda would like to know ahead of time what to look for. All comments welcome
I don't know if they come with the original Buick mounting discs. I have an article on the site below showing proper installation and the discs from a Cutlass and Buick for side-by-side comparison. You can use either since the Cutlass versions seem to be available and the Buick ones are not. You can see the mounting strip that goes on the front fender as shown in the article is available from full size models...you just need to trim it/shorten it to fit the Skylark models.
I found the Cutlass clips new but can't remember what site had them listed. I will check my files for the info. They were not expensive.....all 10 for $12-15. The strips are not be reproduced but can be found. Check out the listing here for someone parting out the 70-71 Electras and Wildcats.
To be honest they look exactly like the fastners we use on Modified Bitumen glas base to secure it to the roof. I'll have to get some out and check the diameter of them. If it is I've probably got 2 or 3 thousand of them laying around in a bucket somewhere at the shop. ou:
Year One has discs and strips listed on their web-site under part #AJ33 , priced @ $31.95 for the kit.
