I want to build a set of torque tubes for my TA 1 7/8 pri. tube headers. They have a 3.5" collector .... what Dia. & length would be good for my 462 engine 450 hp @ 5300 rpm. peak torque @ 4000 rpm. Years ago I made a set for a BBC & I painted them with enamel paint then after running them a couple times w.o.t. I cut them to length where the paint stopped burning , does this make sense ?
I bought some 18in ones and used grease pen and they burned off at approx 12in. So next time I just bought 12 inchers....... Maybe save you the trouble.....and just go for the 12s.
