Hi, Any Do's / Don'ts to pulling the motor on a 66 Toronado, and leaving the tranny behind.

    Thanks Bruce

Make Sure Tou Unbolt The Convertor From The Flexplate And Put A Jack Under The Trans Lift The Engine Clear Of The Motor Mounts And Pull It Out.

Thanks I've been looking for all the info I can.
    Thanks Bruce

From what I've read you have to unbolt the converter thru the starter hole, then remove inspection plate on the back of the bell housing (don't know why?) I just can't figure out with out taking it apart what holds the other end of the converter, there's no transmission input shaft?

    Thanks Bruce

Personally, I'd pull it with the trans connected. Not that much work and a lot more accessible.

Thanks for the reply, I have already remove the complete front clip so everthing is very accessable. My thought was if I leave the tranny in at least I can roll it around.

The Trans Input Shaft Goes Into The Convertor Thus Holding It Up,just Unbolt It And Push It Away From The Engine.once The Engine Clears The Motor Mounts You Will Be Able To Seperate It From The Trans. I Had A 66 And A 67 Toronado.always Wanted A 68-9 Though. Randy

Thanks Randy, It was easier than I thought, they(http://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/) make reference to an inspection plate to be removed. I thought it was the one on the back of the tranny, turns out it's on the front of the bell housing, just undo 4 bolts, remove cover, remove torque converter bolts and the whole motor is easy to pick up.
