Am replacing the lifts and hoses to the stock pump. As I tossed the old hoses, does anyone know which hose fitting on the pump goes to the bottom of the lifts, and which goes to the uppers?

One fitting on the pump points down and toward the front of the car. The other fitting is directly opposite. I've got a 50% chance of getting it right, but would rather do it right the first time and avoid a mess later.

    Shouldn't the lenghts be different?

Yes, they're different lengths. However, both originate from a "T" at one of two outlets on the pump. I need to know which outlet goes to the lower part of the lift, and which goes to the upper.

Well, I just contacted two different convertible companies and was told by both that it's completely trial and error. Guess I'll just have to see. Will hook up and bleed it tonight and report back for future members to glean from. Happy Thanksgiving.

On my cars, the lower "T" on the pump supplies the upper end of the lift cylinders. Fun getting into this area with battery out and top up!

Hooked it up wrong the first time. On mine, the upper-most outlet (points up and forward) on the pump feeds the top outlet on the lift cylinders. Can someone shoot me a picture of a convertible top switch and plate, in place on the gauge cluster/dash? I wonder if perhaps the previous owner did something hokey with the "up" & "down" labels.

On 71, the switch would only bolt in in one orientation with the electrical connector, and the trim plate has the "DN" and "UP" are molded into it. The 69 sportwagon uses the same switch and trim panel for the rear glass in the tailgate. (My original switch on 71 Skylark convertiblewas malfunctioning due to internal spring missing).
The only way to reverse this would be to take apart the electrical connector that the switch pushes into, and switch the wires. Or swich the wires at the connector for the pump in the trunk. Dunno why anyone one do that:Do No:

Is DN to the left, and UP to the right?
