I have tried everything to get the top to seal on the rear quarter glass with no results.Does anybody know any tricks for this? The only adjustment i can find is the one bolt with the slotted hole back by the cylinders. This does not help. Can a top be installed to short on the rear window side to keep the top from setting down on the glass. This is not a window adjustment problem because i have got them to the limits already. Does a factory shop manual have anythung on this? Ed K

What year and model of car do you have?
There are a couple of different roofs used, hydraulic, electric, scissors etc. All have some adjustments but they are different.

I have a 68 gs which uses the hydraulic cylinders. Just hoping somebody else ran into this and figured it out. ED

The bolt/slot you describe SHOULD be the solution to this problem. Since it isn't, then it sounds to me like the top fabric was installed with the frame out of adjustment, and now it is too snug to get it right.

I have studied this quite a bit and thats the conclusion i came to. Don't want to put the money into a new top just because of some air noise. I am going to look at it some more and see if i can make something else work. ED K

If I make it to the Buick Bash, would you want to adjust my top for me? I still haven't gotten around to it!!!

I thought you showed me a bolt along the sides above the back windows that did the adjusting. Is this bolt above where the cylinders attach?

I'll give it a try. Gee, it's been a year since I showed you where that bolt is, and you haven't done anything about it yet!!! :Dou:
I bet the GS still has a bad rear axle bearing, too, huh???? :Dou:

Which car are you bringing, anyway?

You may have tried this, but have you looked at adjusting the window? They have a fair amount of adjustment to them and they can sometimes compensate for a misaligned top. Maybe just enough to get rid of the noise.

Nope, axle bearing is all fixed. The bearing was on backward. Still have a header leak. Not bad, but I can't stand it. Got gaskets, just need to get out there and do it. Seems like an easy job, but every time I do them, it always turns into an all day event. If I make it, I'll drive the GS. The white one didn't seem very healthy coming back from Temple a few years ago. It's still got points and I haven't looked at them in a loooong time. As long as the GS doesn't pop the temp freeze plug, I should be fine!

Also in reply to your top post on the Brand X thread....I was not a racer last year, I was more of a non-racer. :af: Still need my windows adjusted too!
