I have a 70 GS455 with original style G-60-15 bias ply tires on it. I would like to get an extra set of radial tires for it and was wondering if anyone knows what a G-60 converts to in the radial tire size Thanks Paul
Hi Paul, its Bill up in Fishing Creek. When I was looking for my 72 I was told that the 245's were the replacement for the G60's by 3 different tire dealers around here at that time. My brother in law who has a 71 SS454 (matching numbers) was told that 235's were a replacement for his F60's so I went with the 245's since the 235's were supposed to be correct for the "F60's) that the chevelles came with. When I was at Carlisle this past fall one vendor had a set of orig G60 polyglass for sale and alongside of them he also had a set of 245's, so I put them side to side and they were so d*mn close that it was hard to tell. I know some will say that 255's are the replacement but when I looked at them they appeared to be taller. So HTH and I will see you around here sometime this spring or summer. I took a drive by you house this past fall but you werent home--I wanted to show you my GS, I seen you car trailer there but no vehicles(you pickup) was around so I went back to my friends house up on Chambers hill. take it easy bill g
closest radial match to a G60-15 Paul, The tire height of a G60-15 is 26.44" The closest is the 245/60R-15 at 26.6" The 235/60R-15 is 26.1" and the 255/60R-15 is 27.1" Hope that helps your decision. Larry
We (Paul and I) measured tire sizes this past weekend at Yardley's picnic, because we're both planning the same thing - G60-15 tires (my spare) have a circumference of 84 inches - height 26.73 inches 255-60-15 tires (All Y's spare) have a circumference of 85 3/4 - height 27.29 Can anyone get me the circumference of a 245-60-15? What is the difference in the tread width between G60-15 and 245-60-15? TIA
