Had axle bearings put on 4 years ago to the day that blew up!... Does anybody know the Timken axle bearings and seals part number for a 1970 GS rear end...( The rear end was originally in a 1970 Skylark custom has the original type flat bearings not the tapered bearings. It has a 2:56 highway gears in it, and I live in upstate New York so I enjoy being able to do 75 mph at 2500 RPM )... If possible, I also need the inner rotor bearings and seals TIMKEN parts number. I can't keep putting foreign made garbage in the car that doesn't last!.. Anybody have any idea?... Thank you, Lou

Yep. All old bearing number for the same thing. None are alive anymore. Green bearings were a SEAL bearing for A9 set9 setup...I have had a few of those over the years. You said you wanted the factory number. Its all on the internet... People just refuse to look stuff up. LAZiness I guess.?

Yes,the Timken SET9 is the correct replacement bearing and they are tapered. In the past few years,I have collected some older Bower/BCA straight roller replacement bearings, before they went to the tapered style as well.

I'm trying to get a set of Timken because it seems nothing else lasts. As far as looking it up, I've tried myself but can't seem to get it anywhere. Trust me it's not about being lazy, the people whom I'm attempting to borrow this product from seem to be lazy because they're the ones asking me for the numbers. I do not have the tapered bearing, I need the number for the flat bearing and seal.. and I want in Timken, because I want it to last... So if anybody knows that Tim can part number for the flat bearing on the 1970 axle then I would greatly appreciate that information. ( I'm 67 years old and used to work the parts counter myself back when it was all in a book. And there were many quality brands to choose from. Those books are gone and those brands seem to be gone, but I'm still trying to do it right. And don't know where else to turn...) Lou

Timkin - Is not Timkin anymore... Stop. Nothing is good these days. Timkin is being made in Mexico Taiwan and everywhere all the rest are being made.
Sorry ...thems is the facts. :(

Yes,everything is going away, but I still think the Timkens are the best option for what’s being manufactured today.

Thank you gentlemen, fortunately that problem has been alleviated by a buddy of mine on Long Island... He scored two old ones sitting on a shelf.. along with seals. All done putting in the gear oil right now.. thank you

    That's good news.
You may consider a spare set, as, it seems a lot of these parts are going away quickly.
