    Hi Guys,

I have a 1964 Buick Electra with tilt steering. The next step in my project is to restore the steering column. I've got most of it torn apart but I'm stumped on the next step. I cannot figure out how to get the tilt apart.

Does anyone have directions on early sixties tilt steering column dis assembly? The manual doesn't seem to be any help.

Here is a pic of where I'm at....

The two pins (one on each side) that are threaded on the inside are pressed in place. A small dent puller will remove them if you do not have the correct tool. Dan

I kinda thought that but it's good to hear confirmation. Is it pretty much self explanatory after that or is there anything I should know?

It is going to have some spring pressure on it,so work them out slowly and hold it with one hand while taking it apart. It is not real heavy on the spring, but you want to keep from losing pieces when it comes apart. Work in a clean area in case you drop something.

Good to know. Makes me wonder about reassembly? Is it rocket science?
