Seems lots of people could use these. I know GM had a seperate cable for every carb and engine combination but I think one that works on the 70-72 GS with the 455 would be handly to have as a repro. Would probably fit most others too. This is an important piece too, gets used all the time and eventually they will all break, then what?? tim, now this would be a fairly simple item to repo, fairly, not easy. all we have to do is to approch the aftermarket companies that do them now. i have done in the past on my own, but w/out hard numbers its tough. motormite/help/dorman(all one company now) is the company to approach. you won't get them made for nothing, but at least they will be available. anybody got nothing to do? john
Question on this-is the throttle cable from say a 70GS 350 or Skylark custom (4 barrel) the same length as the cable on a 70GS 455 (also 4 barrel)??
No they are all different lengths...but I would think a longer version that would fit a bunch would be better than a string run through the firewall... I know GM (for example) has different p/ns for the 72 GS350 and GS455 throttle cables, I have one of each here and they are so close it crazy...I won't try to straighten them right out for fear of breaking, but the ends are identical and the length (between the mounting points) has to be within 1/2". I know guys with aftermarket manifolds use big car cables and they can be quite long, but work well. The gas pedal could always be adjusted somehow, or the ball on the cable swaged at a different spot, or perhaps some kind of adjustment?? Just a thought, seems to be we're gonna need some....
