Just dropped a new motor in my car and the stock throttle cable and bracket won't line up until the carburetor is cracked open about 1/4. It is stock 1972 bracket and cable, Holley 850, and a new SP1 intake. Has anyone else encountered this situation and what is best to correct is along with a return spring setup? Thanks, David
I used a throttle cable from Lokar whcih can be purchased from Summit on my Skylark which got converted to 455. I also used a stock throttle return spring bracket from a junk yard 455 engine with a little modification. I also used a double spring. The Lokar piece is nice looking in black or stainless housings and comes with all needed ends and is very adjustable.
Did you use the 24" or the longer cable from Lokar? Also, did you use your stock throttle bracket? Thanks
I used the 24" with the black cover. It will work with the stock throttle bracket allthough mine was heavily modified with a 1/2 bolt used as a throttle stop. The car in my avatar would run as slow as low 18's in the 1/4 on a hot day! Excellant for bracket racing the fast cars at the nats in the gamblers races:grin: I'll try to remember to take a picture of it when I get home. The cable is easy to cut to the proper length and very adjustable.
