are you ****ing retarded??????????? Stick stifts are the best thing ever made. auto's are for pansy's that dont know how to drive a car.

ok i bet i would win a race against that mezda 6 with that stick. when racing straight track the stick slows down the car. ever notice the fastest cars on the planet dont have sticks in them. it just slows them down to shift.

.... haha ok I would do that anytime. if the car I just bought had more horse power equal to yours I would take you on now.

i only have 170hp at the moment. its also not hp that wins races. alot of torque and pois-tracktion does

    me
even equal hp would make a different if you dont have the other things.

I'm all for Buicks but be careful picking your battles. The type of racing makes a big difference in which transmission is "better". Drag racing is a Automatic dominated form. Road Racing is a manual or manu-matic dominated form. Drifting is manual dominated. Tractor pull is automatic dominated.

I don't think it worth the waste of time to argue with an unknow guy and not define the form of racing more clearly.

not to be late to the party but unfotunatly you are wrong.take a look at stock and super stock classes the stick cars are always faster.

super stock isnt faster then funny cars. just thought it was funny cause he was saying if he got a little mezda 6 he would beat me.

Sticks are faster to a certain point. Of course Funny Cars and Top Fuelers don't use sticks, they don't really use automatics either. You simply cannot react and shift 3 times in less than 4 seconds, Just not possible. Plus I'm not sure that anyone makes a standard tranny that can handle thousands of HP.

Now there are plenty of 9 second stick shift cars out there. It's pretty crazy to see a fox body Stang stick shift run 9s with 5 gears...

But look at a newer Stang or Camaro. The stick shifts are always faster. Look at the old muscle cars, the sticks were always faster. Not to mention stick shifts usually put more power to the wheels because they don't loose as much power as autos do. So if you make 400 hp at the crank and have a stick shift you might lose 60-70 hp through the driveline. Same motor with an auto can lose up to 100 hp through the drivetrain. According to many dyno runs, the 545RFE dodge transmissions lose 28% of their hp through the transmissions. That's awful

Automatics are lame in my opinion and I would never choose an auto over a stick. Everything I own is already a stick or I am converting to a stick. I can't stand autos

His Mazda might beat you, he weighs a lot less than you do.

    otter It'll be done someday.

I like auto's for consistency in bracket racing, but yes, for all out, a stick would be better(especially if your name is Ronnie Sox)

Yes, they are great for bracket racing...but it's much more impressive and challenging if you can get consistent with a stick.

actually your looking at it wrong a stick usually has one more gear than a auto th350 vs a 4speed

i think auto 5 speed auto vs manual 5 is a different story but 5 speed autos and bigger are just now getting common in cars

Phil It really *is* a 350...

    power:weight ratio = everything

I learned to drive a stick one summer in Van Nuys, driving up and down Mulholland Drive in a 78 Honda civic back in the 80's. It was white and looked like this one:

The twisties on Mulholland played right into the little Honda's hand, and it wasn't hard at all to keep up with the Camaros, Chargers and Mustangs that laughed at it.

Atleast until the road got straight.

I still perfer a stick to an auto, but in a straight line, a well tuned automatic isn't going to miss a shift and grenade the clutch. Human error sucks.

    :)
