IMG_2108.jpeg IMG_2105.jpeg IMG_2104.jpeg IMG_2106.jpeg I can’t sit still and relax, it’s 45* cloudy and windy outside, so I went into the garage to putz a bit.
Removed my power steering pump to ready it for a re-seal, Edelman kit is on its way, 12.00 from Rock Auto including shipping.
Also removed my AED and put my Q Jet back on for an experiment.

-2 tenths in the 1/4 and a big bog
I decided to see how much fun it would be to cut grass with a 43* temp I froze my Kahoonies off
70* last week 42 for the weekend weather at its best

The big bog is what I want to tinker with some more, IF I still have one.
I’m curious if I still do with these heads.
But gotta wait till I get my pump sealed up and installed.

It probably needs a pump shot that will carry into the secondaries starting to open A big long one Take the Choke out don't need that.

If that intake manifold is not truly flanged for a Q-jet then I would not even bother bolting it on.

More than likely I’ll be putting the AED back on:cool:

When I ordered it from TA, I had the dual bolt pattern and “opening” for the Q Jets huge secondaries done so I could use either or.

Take the secondary dash pot completely off....then adjust the air door screw so there is just a touch of resistance on the doors....fine tun from there

What my “theory” here is, being these new irons aren’t hogged out like my other ones killing velocity, and I CAN feel the difference between these heads and my old irons, with the increased velocity I’m curious if it’s enough to overcome the sudden opening of the Q Jets secondary’s without the secondary pump shot??????
I’m also curious of idle vacuum, IF there will be an increase with the Q Jets smaller primaries verses the AED’s
AND responsiveness of the Q Jet verses the AED.
Just some tinkering cause I’m bored:p

I did not look at the pictures, but if you don’t need a adapter then give the Q-jet a try out.

Unless your car leaves at 5000 rpm you WILL need some air valve flap tension and vacuum can timed release to not have a bog off line.

you should get yourself a Dragy, it was very accurate and then you could tell if the carb is making a difference

Going to the track is more fun, even tho I only seem to get 2 passes in 5 hours:p
Plus with Dragy, were you going to get consistent readings without risk of smashing into someone or something or getting picked up?
I don’t think traffic would be happy with me if I dead stopped on 480 or 271 and then punched it:p:p:p

You can't tell me there is not a back rd where you can check 300ft since that is as about as for you need to go to see if you are outrunning the track
    It is this close

How do I prep my starting line as I’ll spin my DRs if there’s no glue?
I’m sure that would affect the numbers.

So ... did you try the advance bushing before you decided to goof around and waste time with the qjunk?:D

Bushing has been in since last year, haven’t tried it with only 28 total yet, just 33 (race gas) then 30 (race gas again) I’m going to try it at 28 total this year.
As for the Q Jet if I still get my bog slamming to WOT on the street, (which it probably will) off it comes and back on my AED.
But I’m also curious about how the Q Jet will behave with the heads having more velocity to them as far as drivability and idle vacuum, I’m just curious how it’s going to behave

Mark, my irons are open'd up alot. I must have swept up at least 5+ lbs of iron.:D
The flow bench @.600 lift never dropped off. Sure the velocity might be less with so much material removed. My flow numbers were close to Guy's.
Kevin (Storm1) has the irons we need......:)
