Good Day All...per subject title: What are the Horsepower limits for a 1000 CFM Comp Series Thermo Quad? Anybody out there have any experience exceeding 600 HP with one of these? Any and all replies are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.....

OK, here is the story for my carb question. On a previous build (530HP, iron heads & fat tappet cams ) I had been running a Thermo quad...fast forward to the present; Stage 2 Aluminum heads and a hydraulic roller . Engine is on a dyno stand and when the secondaries on the T-Quad are opened the motor falls on its face. Even like that it 500 HP on an easy pull.wapped carbs to a proform 1050 and the engine made 600HP/FTLBS .....there is still more horsepower to be had. So my question is....Does anyone have any experience (or techincal expertise to share) making over 600 HP with a ThermoQuad. Would an EFI get me more power? Anybody?

    Thanks Guys

Sure, done it a couple two, three times.. no issue.

What is your data telling you on the dyno?.. dead lean? or won't it even pull against the water brake?

Two possible causes if it stumbles and you can't pull it to get any data

Secondaries opening too fast- common in a dyno situation with a QJ or TQ
Dead lean on the secondaries- block fuel flow, jets way too small ect..

You simply may need to slow down the secondary opening via the spring tension, and insure that you have no blockage in the secondary fuel system.

If a TQ has one downfall, it is that they are very sensitive to dirt, which plugs the air bleeds and fuel passages.

The TQ has dual fuel inlets and plenty big needles and seats to support well over 600 HP on gas.
