It was a perfect day. Great weather and the turnout was super ....,45 Factory Stockers, 21 F.A.S.T cars and 42 Show cars....over 100 cars participated in the event. Most everyone had a good day. LOTS of spectators, over 200 I was told. I just wanna thank all you guys who came out yesterday, especially TransAm Glen, Goatless, Greg Gessler, Ralph and the other guys who helped promote the event in their area. Rob and Art did a great job at the show tent, handing out giveaways and prizes, Plaques, T-shirts etc. We may have the bargaining power for a full 2-day event next year. Raceway Park told me personally "we are blown away by the turnout". This is a day where it was below freezing in most spots in the early morning. Hemmings was there and got alot of great magazine material. George from Hemmings is a down to earth muscle car guy and loved the event. I think F.A.S.T / Stock Appearing cars can only get bigger as a result of this. The F.A.S.T lanes were packed with fans, mobbing the participants as if they were rock stars at times. Several new F.A.S.T. ET records were set as well as many personal bests as well. Hey Fellas there's a Ford in the low 11's, and he aint near done yet. Great Job Phil/Lane Thanks also to Dave Dudek, Wayne Nelson, Terry Pennington, Jimmy Johnston, Pete Simpson for making the long trip & supporting the event, and fending off all of the constant attention. All I can say is F.A.S.T & Factory Stock is HERE to stay in the NE. I will post some pictures later today, as SMT66 broke down on the way back last night at 11:30 PM in Staten Island NY so I am going back to help him get his truck road worthy this morning. Thanks Donny And again thanks to all you great guys that came out and had faith that an event like this could actually take place. You guys are the best and I appreciate you driving long hours to get to the track. I am sorry I didn't get to speak to all of you, maybe next year I'll have time when I recruit 10 more volunteers! I have pictures on the www.stockappearingdrags.com website going up today and the next few days as well, I also have the official race results in hand and will try and post that as soon as I can verify the accuracy and organize it properly. 2 guys said to me during the event who were running 15's "this is the best day I ever spent with my car" Thats all I'm looking for fellas, have a great 2006, see you next year for 2 big events.
Bill, Thanks to you for such a great event. I wish I had had more time to have Tom tune on the carbs but a 103+ mph shows that the E.T. will come around :3gears: . I can see this show only growing into a must attend event next year :TU:. I wish to publicly thank Tom Cannon and Dan Doyle for all that they did for me this weekend. Lon
I can't wait till June Bill.. You did an awesome job last year and all of us Buick guys from the NorthEast GS/GN Club had a blast.
