This is what happens when your daily driver happens to be an old big buick and you happen to live in upstate NY.

    WARNING.............WARNING................WARNING.............

The following two pictures are not for the faint of heart.

That's what killed my '66. Washing it only dilutes the salt and it penetrates deep into the seams. Plus, when its this cold, the doors freeze up and make you :af: .

For what you spend on washes and damage to the car, it's almost cheaper to buy a beast just for the winter and fugget abbad' it! Also it's a good excuse to give the wife for buying a parts car!

That's nothing. You should see some of the rust buckets driving around here in Buffalo. Some of them are so bad the fenders flap in the wind and the bumpers fall off them. Some of these cars are so rusted the subframes come apart and they are not even roadworthy. I've seen some really nice low mileage cars out here that barely have door skins left. The beds fall off the pick ups and struts poke through the bodies of some of the the rest. Frames on full framed cars rust out. It all brings a whole new meaning to the term "rust bucket".:Brow:

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

My Park Ave looks like that from December to March:grin: I won't dare drive either '66 in the stuff, but last year when the heater core went in the Park Ave I drove an hour to work in the Vette in 2" of snow on bald 315-30-17 drag radials:shock: Lotsa fun to say the least...

Let me tell you about salt... I used to live in MI, till '99. Drove in all kinds of salt and ice. Never had a car rust out like I have down here in FL. When I brought my 84 455 Cutlass down here, sure it had the Typical MI rust spots.. But heck, they were there for 3yrs and didn't much worse. Undercarridge was clean tho. Moved to FL, and within 14months the rust was threatning the gas tank mounts (where the straps bolt on), rust was growing everywhere. Its gotta be the air, combined with all the rain.

Then two yrs ago I get the GS from PA... its not so bad looking at it, has alittle rust. 6 month later all the wheel well trim starts falling off. and now I have this:af: There isn't a good piece of metal on the car except for the hood (and that probably won't last much longer:ball: :ball: )

Here's my future parts car: (the good side)

Keep in mind this pic is a year old... I can get updated pics but I don't have the stomach.
