This is from Woodward this year. So where do we go next?

No wonder Wayne Nelson is getting away from bowties and going for the blue oval.

Box me up and plant me if this ever becomes mainstream.

p.s. That IS a full size car. Kinda looks like Detweiler riding shotgun, doesn't it?

Looking at that car reminds me of some guys around here putting Corvette bodies on 4X4 chassis (for you young ones out there, Jesse James was not the first to do this) (note to self, you are sounding like an old timer :Dou: ). That car has enough ground clearace, you almost need running boards.

    Dave,
I don't think that this will be happening to the cars that we love, but I could be wrong. I am sure that with the proper guidence from Grandpa, your grandson won't be making this fatal fashion faux pax!

Well, I hate to say it..........But, What was done when we were younger, didn't go along with the thoughts our parents had either!
Muscle Cars didn't fit the "Idea" of sensible Transportation.
Other offerings of 64 Impalas, with Straight axle Front ends, and rear rims widened to 9 or 10", then raising the car to get tire clearence doesn't make sense today either. But, Played that game as well.
In the Late 40s, People took Model Ts and stripped them of unessential parts, installed larger engines, etc.
Others went with Funny looking little roadsters, and the like that were "quick, and cornered well" (for the Time) and people thought they were "Lunitics."
    "Damn Sporty Cars!"
Kind of reminds me of an ad for the Javelin in 68.
Father had STOCK Javelin, and was yelling at his Kid, about the Blower sticking out of the hood, Rear Tires 1/2 under the rear fenders, and the rear of the car sitting 8" higher than Stock.
"Dad, I just made a Great Car BETTER."
I DON'T Like the "Hot Wheels look", whether it be on a car or an SUV. I also don't like the opposite idea of trying to cram a 6" wide tire on an 8" rim, with a 6" off set, so the wheels are almost completely out side the Body. Car is Unsafe! (Like the raised cars with Straight Axles.)
    HOPEFULLY, this to shall pass.

We can all take comfort in the fact that Darwin is alive and well in the auto entusiast arena. By the time that yahoo finished cruising Woodward (note: located in Michigan, the Great Pothole State), I doubt any of those 24" wheels escaped unscathed. He's probably installed 17s by now (which still look ugly to me).

I used to love to watch the swamp buggies run on Wide World of Sports on Sunday afternoons. The had these "creations" that looked like this that ran on a closed course in Mississippi swamp water (complete with the requisite water moccasin, of course). Loved the "Sippy Hole".

These type cars remind me of those things.

You're right, Brian. The Woodward dream cruise ends at 8 mile. This thing wouldn't have a prayer past that point going south....not including the potholes.

I remember the swamp buggy races. I do believe that the sippy hole was a better obstacle than a chicane! :pp Steve Evans making the call on TNN, the Jeep class, and the unlimited modifieds. Fun to watch, but why would you build one other than to win a race and jump in the mud hole with the 'Queen of the Swamp'! :Do No:

Yes!!! Swap buggies rule. Spindly wheel-driven contraptions that run 70+ mph on a figure-8 course through water/mud 3-4 feet deep. Man! There was some serious back-woods "engineering" going on in some of those things. But I think I'd rather share the swamp with a water moccasin than the Queen.

    Heres a thought.
Just playing around but do you think it could get any more UGLY!
