Can I use some complete doors from a '70 Skylark\GS hardtop on a '70 Skylark\GS convertible? I have not measured them but they sure look the same to me. Thanks Mike
Bill, the Ragtop was the yellow '72 that was at the back of my shop with all the stuff piled on top. My body man is real slow now so he is doing my car for cheap (real cheap) just to keep his guys employed. He came by last night with 2 of his sons and a couple of friends and we loaded it up on his open trailer and he towed it back to his shop to get started. He had his guys help me load all the parts in the back of my truck so I can bring them up after work today. Then I can pick up the old parts he removes today. This same guy did my blue 69 GS and again after the accident, my red '70 GS racecar, my blue '70 GS FAST XFI injected car, and my '08 M&M dragster (not to mention a couple of deer hits on my Dodge truck and some work on my dads car). It will end up as a triple white '70 when it is done. I am not sure if I should make it a GS clone or keep it a Skylark? It will of course get a fresh 455+ ci power plant. That still does not answer my question about the doors fitting?o No: uzzled: Thanks Mike
Same doors. Don't forget to get the conv wedges from the original doors to transfer to your coupe doors.....they are stainless steel "L-shaped" and contact the brass wedge on the door jamb.
George, thanks a bunch. You always provide some great info. I will have to check on the "conv wedges" since I did not know about them. How big are they or will I see them right away? Thanks Mike
Mike, you can't miss em. First look for the brass pieces on the door jam (on the car not the door) *they're about 1" tall and 1/4" to 1/2" wide. Held on by two screws. Then look for the part they strike against on the door. That's the wedges talked about by George.
