Well, if I ever wanted to know what my car would look like as a rat rod, this guy has got it down. Kinda freaky actually:

I have my 1960 cadi caddy cadillac coupe . series 62 , needs paint and interior work, runs strong, Disk brakes, and air bag system installed and works fine, Straight body but HAS RUST but not in horrible areas to fix just your standard rockers and floor pans, the floor pans are fairly new, the old owner installed them wrong with screws so they can be saved easy !so if your serious come look at it, i cant tell you if its a lot or a little rust, that's up to you to decide, not trying to be rude, just honest and not waist time.
i bought it to restore, got the motor running very good, but covid hit and i cant get the body work done $.
so my loss your gain type of deal. SERIOUS ONLY thank you No online transaction, in person pickup an payment only .

Got a few pieces for the engine compartment redo. Valve covers are 53-56, spent a few hours to hammer out and metal finish some dings from an errant pushrod in the driver's side cover. Smooth as a peach with no body filler involved now. Pretty rare to find them with the plug wire holders still on them. Air cleaner is on it's way and is a '66-'67 Toronado piece, took forever to find something cool and different that will fit with the A/C compressor. Thanks to Bill from Bill's Auto Works who measured his air cleaner off his Toronado for me. Need to get some custom paint made up for the engine and air cleaner, and that'll be the next project. Got some crazy ideas rolling around in my head......

Got the paint samples for the long block here to match up tomorrow in the daylight and went bolt shopping for the engine hardware. I'm an allen bolt and acorn nut guy, much cooler than the stock hex stuff.

All primed and ready for paint. Will lay some color down tomorrow or this weekend....apparently our custom color is "Nachtblau".

Came outside to do a little wizz wheeling on a 409 valve cover I'm restoring, got bored waiting for the compressor, and decided to pull the carb. It's more than a couple degrees below freezing. Will get the intake off tomorrow.

Got this fused distribution box to tidy up the engine compartment wiring. Also still deciding what to do with my "hot" modification from a few posts ago. That will have to wait for spring at this point.

Intake off this morning, surprised at the severe lack of mouse turds on the pan. Laid some paint down on the covers and got the intake in primer but I'm going to work it over a little before paint....headed to get a beer while they dry so I don't touch them.

Turning it from a 4 hole to dual plane to increase plenum volume. Old school mod, really wakes these old ladies up. Sawzall is just a rough cut, I'll carbide it to clean it up and shape everything. Check out Docs dual plane thread in the nailhead section. Same deal here.

Spent part of the weekend out at my buddy Glenn's (disorganized) metal fab/welding shop helping him do a couple two man jobs making some stainless counters for a local restaurant. He's got some pretty big stuff that's always fun to mess with. While I was there I made the adapter plate for the smaller carb body to the larger opening in the Toronado air cleaner, which also allowed me to move the air cleaner back a little over 1/2" so it should clear my A/C compressor nice and easy now. Used a 4 1/8" hole saw to offset cut the carb hole then used a Beverly to cut out the outside at 5 1/4". Looks like it's going to work out well. Need to grind off the casting numbers and weld up the heat crossovers on the intake then I can get to painting and reassembling the engine.

Relaxing, sitting with the dog, fixing a few little stainless trim dings, polishing, and watching the Cadillac episode of Roadkill. Not bad.

You do not realize how s***** your trim looks until you have it off the car and in your hands. Before and after 5 minutes, and finished product.

Been detailing the engine bay, painting the engine, and a few other things like brackets, bolts, mostly anything mounted to the engine. Pretty much removing everything down to the long block. Ground off all the casting flash and casting numbers from everything before painting so we're all nice and smooth. Been a 3 day project getting the underside all cleaned up and looking pretty, including the trans. Will get after the chassis/suspension a little better later on. Mocked the engine together to check my air cleaner fitment before squirting it white, going to need a few "adjustments" to clear everything. Scored a free Edelbrock 1406 so I'll most likely be running that now instead of the 4GC, we'll see what happens during testing in a few weeks.

Came home to my new "some assembly required" white Taylor plug wire kit...forgot to mention I got some "NOS" taillight bezels off ebay. Turned out to be some used parts, but 2 out of the 4 were better than 2 of mine, so was able to make a really nice set of 4 out of 8, so I guess it evens out by my idiot math. Detailed the surrounds while I was at it, they will also be getting allen head screws at some point, probably this weekend. I like all the easily visible hardware to be allen heads if I can help it.

    Lucas,

When doing the ignition wires I like to use the numbers that attach to each end of the wire. Kinda makes it look neater.

Sprayed the valley pan, got primer on one half of the top end. Got the passenger's side manifold painted in 2000 degree flat aluminum. Loving the time change because its light till 8 p.m. right now, but it's also 2 hours later than I thought it was when I got out of the garage.
