Hi Dave, I just wanted to say thanks for the GS455 I bought from you a few months ago. I appreciate it. These framingham cars are interesting. I also appreciate you keeping in touch. Thanks
So is mine? The plant is now a dealer auction site, if anyone's interested. http://www.adesa.com/auctionHome.do?auction_pkey=5
Well, my 70 that I bought from Dave was built mid year 1970. Ok, remember "70." I was checking to make sure the vin matched the engine which is supposed to be between 1 and 3....I began to worry, then I looked between 5 and 7...... sure enough, "SR" was stamped right into the block.....so where was the vin?? I pulled off the bracket on the front of the engine just because I was curious and there it was. The engine vin was stamped on the front of the block just like the 71s are supposed to be. Another interesting thing is the transmission. It has the correct code and date code, but there is no vin on it either (yes I know where to look). This car was also triple brown with non power windows but with power door locks. They also have what Duane calls a Framingham third of a build sheet. Apparently they tore off a corner to build the interior and just taped part of it to the gas tank. My fremont cars have multiple build sheets through out the car. Ive found 2 or 3 in all of my fremont cars, so apparently instead of ripping up a build sheet, in california, they just printed another one. That stuff was interesting to me.....may not be to anyone else. ou:
Matt, after reading your posts and your signature I'm fairly certain you are "Buick Crazy!" I sure would like a walk through your garage. :beer
Well, youre more than welcome to come by. None of them are restored, but a few of them are in great shape. I hope to have one completely concours restored by this time next year......I find these cars way more interesting than any chevelle or camaro. Maybe its because nobody really knows they exist or maybe its because they look better than the other cars.
Funny that you mention Framingham build sheets. In addition to the large one, I found these other 2 parts of build sheets in different places in the interior.http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=90537&d=1174589451
Another interesting thing about the Framingham cars is that sometimes they come with 12 bolt Buick stamped rears in them uzzled:  ....I've had 2 and they were 1 VIN number apart, same color and delivered on the same day to 2 separate dealerships about 10 min from each other (one was Straub Motors in Keyport NJ(car crushed due to rotted frame and floor) and the other was delivered in Schrewsburry NJ (the one I own now, forget the dealership name tho) :Brow:. Other then the Canadian models I haven't found many US built models with that rear...oh and the build sheet and stamped codes match p . LOL Larry
Notice that they are torn or cut. It came as a large sheet....about 2 or 3 inches larger than a standard sheet of printing paper. What youll usually find is a third of the build sheet on the gas tank, which is the part that was used to build the body, then youll usually find the other two pieces inside the car somewhere. Put them all together and youll have a whole gmad build sheet. The fremont cars seem to have duplicates of the whole thing through out the car.
