TH350 parts needed.

I just need a couple of things before this weekend and I'm not going to be able to go junk yarding any time soon.

Here's the first. I have it circled in the picture. Is this just a modulator? Maybe I can pic this up at the parts store if it is. Sorry, I'm new to the 350s.

 

And this thing. The speedo gear and cover.

 

Missing item in red circle is the modulator. Buy those new.

Speedo gear housing......need to know what you need.
Gear needs to match gear housing.

 

Alright, I have the modulator...I just have to go pick it up at the parts store.

I need the cover that holds the gear in there and the little bolt that holds the cover on. I'm not sure what else is suppose to be there since I'm not familiar with these trannys.

 

You need to state what gear you need. Cover has numbers on it for gears that go with the cover.

 

What cover? There is no cover holding the gear in there. That's the peice I need. Maybe I'm not being very clear.

 

There are many many many covers and gears for that trans.
If you use the wrong gear, your speedo will be off.

So, once again, you need to know what gear and cover you need for your car. It depends on rear tire size and rear gears. If you need a 45 tooth gear, then you need a housing with 42 43 44 45 46 numbers cast on it. You can not use a 45 tooth gear in a housing that has 35 36 37 38 39. Understand now?

 

Makes sense now. I didn't realize the cover had to match the gear.

I have 25" tires and a 3.08 rear. What else do you need to know?

 

Ok, that helps. I believe you will need a 39 or 40 tooth gear and matching housing. I don't have any at this time but will be at the yards on Sat. If someone here doesn't have one by Fri 11pm Eastern, I will see if I can find one on Sat.

 

I guess I could use the kick down cable and a dipstick and tube as well if you have those.

 

I had an old TH200 and found out the speedo gear and housing works on the 350 as well. It's the wrong size speedo gear though.

 

Arrgh, I guess I need the retaining clip that holds the vacuum modulator on. While testing the tranny (at 2am this morning) I was under the car and the vacuum mod. came shooting out with about 3 qts of ATF...right in my face. The little plunger shot out too. Is there suppose to be a spring on the plunger?
