My TH-350 has an occaisional 'hiccup': at around 25mph, if I let off the gas for a couple of seconds, then get back on it (lightly), the trans will let the engine rev up for a second, then 'grab', and away we go. It feels like it's either slipping or maybe "stuck between gears" for a second, if that's possible. :Do No:

Usually, this happens when I slow down, turn a corner, then start to accellerate. It seems to be around that 1-2 shift point, and it doesn't always do it, just every so often.

The trans has a total of 285,000 miles, and was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago, and got a new gearset at that time. Fluid is clean and full, otherwise it runs/shifts great.

    Ideas?

Doesn't a trans. rebuild include new bands? It sounds to me like your having the same problem as I am except mine doesn't "grab" the gear(s), mine revs up at around the 25 mph mark and higher and sometimes won't shift to second, it will just rev. Sounds like the bands, and I thought a rebuild included the bands?????

Yes, a rebuild should include all friction elements (bands & clutches). I'm pretty sure mine are ok, it's something having to do with applying them every so often...I just have no idea what...maybe I'm catching the hamster in the wheel taking a break? :Do No:

Anybody have an opinion about those trans flushes, like the BG one my local shop offers?

Actually to be truthful, my tranny does shift rougher than it used to, I remember when it used to shift like it was nothing at all, and now it does shift harder into second than it did and sometimes when it shifts into third, you can't even really hear it. Took if for a little spin to see if it'd do it's usual routine and yep...it does. Come on spring, I need a tranny rebuild.

Check the simple things first. Vacuum modulator, vacuum supply, leak free? Also, I would remove the governor and spray it down with gumout, then dip it in some fresh fluid and reinstall it.

    Larry,

I think you're replying to me, so I'll take this as my chance to "have" to go get an adjustable modulator, while I doublecheck the vacuum lines, etc. I wasn't looking forward to lying on the ground and getting ATF in what's left of my hair, but it looks like that's what I get to do this Saturday.

Better than wallpapering a bathroom, though!!! :Brow:
