i have the opportunity to buy a 1962 buick electra with the 4bbl, 445ftlb nailhead and a dynaflow with 90k miles. i havent seen the car yet, so what can i expect for horsepower, top speed, fuel efficiency. also, what is the curb weight?

The dynaflow is a bit of a slug as far as performance is concerned, but the 62 (in my opinion) was the best driving Buick of all the Dynaflow powered cars. The 401 has good power. Top speed? How fast do you plan on going? They'll go fast if you let them. Fuel efficiency is about 15-16 tops if the car is tuned well. Curb weight - 4600-4800 lbs...thereabouts.

The engine should have about 325 horsepower if this book is correct . I think they had the same engine as the Wildcat. Either way that's a whole lot of Buick torque. I don't know much about the earlier Electras as I ride in a 1976, but the 1962 is a very good looking car. Weight will vary, staying in the 4235-4396lb range (standard catalog of buick). They got heavier in the seventies, maxing over 4700 pounds in 1975 and 1976. Any Electra from this time period is still a full size car by all means.
