I recently installed an el cheapo tach (sunpro?). Although it seems to work ok at idle and part throttle, whenever I get about 3k wide open, it begins to jump. Any thoughts? BTW I still have my stock points ignition and stock coil.

Check your grounds and all the wire connections. I have a Sunpro (El' Cheapo) too and it gave me simalar probs at first with my HEI, but found that the trigger wire was loose at a connection. You would think that would make the needle drop instead of jump up, but once I replaced the connection all was fine. Been three years now.

What kind of wire should I be to the gauge? I am currently running some single strand connection wire for ground power and tach signal.

BTW I'll check the signal wire tonight. Thanks for the reply.. I had the same thought if it were loose, wouldnt it drop? But I'll double check my connections!

I have the same tach with no problems :Do No: Check all your wiring, sounds like your loosing a signal, or possible arcing a wire somewhere. I do know somebody in NJ who will be able to help you out if you still have a problem, I live in NJ to ya know :Brow:
Hope to see you at BOP day on the 31st!

I just used regular Power wire (14ga.)for the main and trigger with 12ga. ground wire to the Dash support. Also, I just spliced the Light into the dash light wires so It came on with the rest of the dash lights. Also, use as little connections as possible... It will keep the resistance down.
