Ok the day is here. TA has my TE Stage 2 castings and is waiting for me to tell them what I'm going to use in them. I'm going to run race gas with a flat top girdled 464, close to zero deck hopefully but waiting on a crank rear seal to get the crank in and see how close the piston is to the top. I was told by a well-known Buick machinist to get the 11/32 stem valves for them and if he reads this, please chime in for all of us Buick lovers to read. After looking I saw the prices was 100 more for those valves which is ok but just want to know the right way to do this. Do I buy all the parts from TA or use another brand of parts to top these off with?
Will I have to do more bowl work when I get these after they install the bronze guides, and do they install the seats and machine them? I don't want to get them and have to ship them to another Buick Head shop to do more machine work. Thanks for any of your help. I never thought that I would get a set of stage 2 heads but the time is now!!!! The pic of Stage 2 heads was from the internet, not mine. BBB1.jpg B464 2023.jpg Stage 2 455 Heads.jpg

Yes most definitely go 11/32...you open the retainer and spring choices up immensely.... titanium..conical..etc

Ta will handle the guides and seats if you opt for them to do so...but be prepared for a wait if you want them to machine them

Just get the castings and have a local shop cut the seats and then you can blend the bowls

I talked to Sherry today and I think I will let them do the work and they will send me the loan jig for the extra bolt holes.

SPX won't fit these heads! More fabrication for me!

Rob used to make adapter plates to allow the spx to fit.

Its been one complaint about the need for a better intake for the raised port heads. I have a well ported sp2, but we could really use a super victor style intake........longer runner single plane

That was my plan initially too (SPX with Stg 2 TEs), before opportunity knocked to get into a 555 Tomahawk with super Victor intake.. I still have the billet adapters on the shelf from Rob, too.

Haven’t gotten around to putting an ad up for sale yet, but I have a pair of adapter plates if you’d like to chat - let me know.
