On TA's website, they are now offering a mechanical street/strip high performance fuel pump. 8 psi and 80 GPH. Does anyone have a clue how much HP an 80 GPH pump would support?

I'll eventually have a stage 2 headed 462 going together, and I really don't want to run an electrical fuel pump.

Any thought an how much HP this pump can support?

    I calculate slightly over 800HP.

Depends on 100 things like volumetric efficiency, brake specific fuel consumption, whatever.

Have you tried calling T/A and seeing what they have to say about it?

    80 gph x 6 lbs/gal = 480 lbs/hr

    480 lbs/hr / 0.5 lbs/hp-hr = 960 hp

    The answer is 960 hp.

Assuming that the numbers quoted are 80 gph @ 8 psi and not 80 gph freeflow (i.e. 0 psi) and 8psi @ 0 gph.

I am looking to get rid of my electric system as well, its too annoying,i have 2 new mech. fuel pumps 1 is a Stage 1 Pump and the other is a Holley,i will try the Holley since i had a Stage 1 in once and the press. kept dropping.

    Thanks

Very much interested in a mechanical pump that will supply fuel to a 500+ hp motor.Has anyone contacted TA yet to get an answer that can be shared?I was going to use a mechanical/electric combination(likely abomination) and would much prefer to stay with a mechanical setup with a 1/2 '' feed from tank to motor. Thanks Rod

I spoke by phone with Dave at TA late yesterday concerning the new mechanical pump.TA is going to test its effectiveness very soon with a 500+ hp motor. He promised to post results on the Board.Strangely the specs appear to be better than the Stage 1 pump but the rating from the manufacturer is 400hp.Dave feels this is a very conservative figure as some people have of course used the Stage 1 pump on motors putting out 450hp or slightly better.Hopefully we will all know how this new pump will work out shortly.Rod

Does it need a return line for recirculation?

    Fuel pump

Is it the Mr. Gasket chrome pump? That's what I have on my car. The part number is 7701. I got it from JEG'S years ago. 8 PSI, 80 GPH.

Just took a look at the fuel pump on the TA website, and it is definitely a chrome fuel pump. What type of power are you running DRS? Type of heads? Ever had any problems with the Mr. Gasket fuel pump? I will be buying a fuel pump soon, and would like to avoid the electric fuel pump thing if at all possible. Does it have a return line?

I have a brand new Holley pump that i recently bought on ebay and looks exactly like that one and its the same 80gph 8 psi,i wonder if its good enough for my application,i really want to get rid of my electric fuel pump.

    Thanks

Hi George, why's that? What elec. pump are you running now, and how's it wired (thru a relay?)?

    Mr Gasket pump

My engine is a completely stock 68 430. Just an Edelbrock intake and headers. I haven't used the pump long but, it hasn't given me any problems. It has no return line.

yes its wired through a relay and its Holley blue pump, its just annoying, also dont trust it on long rides,i`m scared it may fail and leave me stranded somewhere someday, its wierd sometimes it makes a different noise than other times,Stage 1 Automotive did all the work including the steel braided lines.

    Thanks
