    tubecatgs Finally a 4 speed......

Its been a long time since I changed an intake. The instructions say to just put RTV sealant around the water ports on both sides of the valley pan gasket and then in the corners of the rubber strips at the front and rear of the block. Should I be putting sealant around every air intake port? Also, there was some black soot n the center of one of the valve covers so appeared to be leaking air a little out of the old intake.... Would it hurt to put RT sealant around the entire valley pan gasket?

    thanks!

What I do is RTV around the water ports on the heads ( A THIN LAYER, don't glob it) Then a THIN LAYER of Hylomar around the intake ports.
Then put intake gasket in place, then repeat the above sequence.
    REMEMBER DONT GLOB THE SEALERS!
On the ends I use RTV instead of the rubber seals. You WILL need to put a thick glob of it depending on the gap.
FelPro used to supply a small tube of black RTV and a tube of some blue liquid for the intake ports with their intake gaskets but they don't anymore:Do No:
Anyhow, that's what I do, others may do it differently and work just as well.
