TA intake vs stock iron??

My numbers are tiny relative to the Jim Burek motors going together. My peak horse was 365 and torque was 400 lbs. I am using basically stock everything. If I were to go away from power accessories, AC, and pump gas, I imagine things could improve through compression and a much bigger cam.

My cam is a custom grind and uses TA dual springs. I posted all my data somewhere. Unfortunately, I don't have it handy right now.

I am interested to hear what your results will be.

Good Luck. Remember to bring lots of tune-ups parts when you head to the dyno.:)

Ok, Ken is sanding me his TA intake and custom made 1" spacer.
What will I need for tuning, I have a stockrebuilt 750 quad, I will be running an Hei distributor with a crane adjusuble vacuum advance and MSD 6 box.
I figure I will run the TA first then add the 1" spacer, then run the stock intake and then the 1" spacer. Should I also try a 2" spacer? Will I need to bring longer studs for the spacers? What can I change in the carb?
Any suggestions will help all of us out!!!!
    Thanks
    Tim

Bring a variety of jets and rods. Your guy will probably run his own electric fuel pump. Make sure you bring your pump and run it before you call it a day.

Will you bring your own header/manifolds? Any Buick friendly shop will have their own. Make sure they have the kind you will be running.

    I hope this helps.

I am bringing my own headers he doesn't have any for SB-Buick.
Yes he has an electric fuel pump, I will call him a week before to find out what else I need, I am hoping he has some spare tuning parts laying around that I can try!!!!!

On that 500+ Hp monster they built they said the 2in open spacer showed the best improvement.

Of course you should try as many as you can 1" n 2"
    open n 4 hole spacers. Y

ou could even make a home made one from plywood to try. There is no heat transfer with wood. Plywood being the best as the layer alternate. There are a few guy on here running wood.

    wood, duh huh hehehe

I have heard they run well with the Center Divider milled down 1" and add a one inch spacer.

I had one of these but never ran it but was told it could run well for my intended use with the above modifications.

It should be fine. I have on on my 80 wagon [2"] and the stock linkage and everything fit/works. I am still using the stock air cleaner.

All I can tell you is from my own experience with the Poston vs TA's 350 intake manifold.
I had them both ,and ended up using the TA's. with a 1" spacer that's what worked for me on a miledly built 350 engine with a 10:1 comp. ratio, good headers and exhaust with a 3:73 gear and 2800 stall converter. Very docile running car excellant street manners, drive anywhere car with a 13.50 1/4 mile times. on pump gas.:Smarty:

    custom sky Generally Nice Guy

Kenny do you have any power brakes to run? Does that cam give you enough vacume? I seems to me that with the duration on that cam you should have a little more lift. Just an observation. I'm currently looking for a new cam to go in my motor. Just about every thing is the same on my car except the rear gears which are 342's.

kenne bell sold the ta intake for many years. offy was suppose to have one way back but i never seen it.
ta seems good on my 70 sp 350 but this thing could use a good gasket match. lots to remove . jim burek is working on a single plane from what i see on this site.might try it when its out.
correct jetting is a must on ta intake, thanks andy:TU:

How are most of you guys blocking off your heat risers and have you noticed a different sound of your exhaust after blocking the heat risers off.I blocked mine off with pipe plugs and my car sounded like it had a split manifold on it so i unblocked the heat risers to get my good sound back.

    Wow.. old thread.

Dont know about the heat risers..

And as an update, get ahold of Mark Burton for one of his X-factor single plane intakes if your going that route. :Brow:

    Tim,

It has been over 6 yrs. Did you ever run the engine on the dyno? Test results?
