Is anyone using any of the following cams with success?

    1. TA 290-08H
    2. TA 290-08HL
    3. TA 298H
    4. TA 296-06H
    5. TA 284-86F

Or from the GSCA, the Hemi Killer cam or the Popular Mechanics cam.

And from Poston the GS-108S cam I believe.

i`m running the 290-08H cam,it pulls like a train, nice power especially w/ aluminum stage 1`s,its lumpy though and sounds hairy.

    Thanks

We used the small 290-08h in a steer motor we did this summer it was iron headed and had 10.00 to 1 comp. On the dyno it made 518 hp and 545 torque it was a damn good runner.

We have a hemi killer in my wifes old racecar, which is just a plan 70 with some suspension work to get some good hook. We never dynoed it but it was pretty basic stock STD bore 70 pistons; balance decked to 10 in the hole stg1 heads ta sp1 and headers. Its run a best of 12.24 at 109 with her driving and leaving it in drive. Shifted at around 4800 she says.

Those are the only two on the list that we have run. But we have used a couple of Scott browns cams and done well to one of them is in Dave Dechents car that runs 11.00's all day long and we ran the same one in the pro street regal my wife races and it had run several 11.teens with bad sixty foot time's (Hoosier pro street tires:( )

Hope that helps most of the other stuff we build uses much more cam than what you are looking for. We do more race stuff than street.

Also if anyone knows how much horsepower these produce over the stock cams I would like to know.

This is a pretty impossible to answer question. There is no way you can say a particular cam is worth such and such horsepower for every different combination.
A particular cam may give you 15 or 20 horsepower on one engine , but on another engine it may only net you less than 10 or maybe 35, due to the combination.
There are no magic cams out there, ( other than our little 226/238 grind, LOL) The combination is where it is all at. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES

Sorry about the slow response been on but not with a lot of time to respond.

The short block is a 470 with eagle 6.800 long rods and Wiseco pistons. The deck height was set at 10 in the hole. Romac timing spins the 290-08h camshaft with a set of extreme lifters pushing diamond push rods.

The heads were a set of 71's that I did a street strip port job on they flowed in the 255 plus range and had really decent low lift numbers. The valve were a set of our stage ones with a back cut put on them the angle is unknown it's based on testing I did on the flow bench I just kept working with it till I got the best numbers and then scribed a line on the grinder used up 6 intake vales with that little test. Flow benches are so much fun when you have time to just screw around. The rockers were and old set of K-B's with our springs and retainers on them. The intake was an unported T-A sp1 with a Pro Systems 850 on it. We did use a set of 2 inch headers on the dyno put the car has 17/8 on it.

Note the rings were the rings that come with our Wiseco deal and it had clevite mains and clevite H-rod bearings. Cam bearings are from TA. Oil pan we built in house to increase capacity.

If I missed anything you would like to know just let me know
