TA 112s

    Hey Mike Atwood (? Spelling) could you type in the TA 112s (solid cam) Into your dyno (Mines the old Desk top dyno, not as accurate) ? Ive got 9:1 compression and my 1 3/4" headers.

    Also with my 3.55 posi and my large headers and exhaust, and my plans for the TA Intake and a 2200 - 2500 rpm converter do you think I'ld be better off going with the TA 310 cam over the TA 212 cam?

    Remind me to punch that in next week when I get back. I am in Kearney Nebraska right now.....Great Plains Buick Challenge. We set everything up today...ready for racin' in the morning.

    I think the 310 would be a good choice with a 3000 converter and those gears....... I think you will definitely know that you have a cam in there!

    Cool, Ill do a ttt next week for you . I typed the TA 112s solid cam into my dyno and I think it might be the way to go by the looks of it (on my dyno) Ill have almost the same torque curve (just a little a very little higher in the RPM range) with the same amount of peak torque, but Ill be makeing about 25+ more HP over the TA212 cam. it tops out at 5000rpm and holds its power through 5500 rpm!
    I think the solid cam may be the way to go, Ill get one of TAs Hi-volume oil pump kits just to be safe.

    It looks like the 310 and the 212 have a very similar hp and tq curves with the 310 being about 15hp and 15lbs more. The 112s doesn't look to hold it's own against either of these in the dyno program though.

    here is the 112s and the 310 compared. the 310's curve is almost identicle to the 212 but a little higher in the middle.

    ??? WTF ??? On my dyno it did great? Did you type it in as a solid cam? Did you type the center lines in as 110*?
    If your dynos correct than Im glad I didnt order the 112s.
    So do you think the 310 will be better for my combo, than the 212?

    What dyno program do you have, cause I think its time for me to upgrade!:)

    Are you sure you typed in the TA 112s and not the 112 cam?
    I just typed in the TA 112 (hydralic cam and got simualr results as your graf.

    The specs for the TA 112 hydralic cam are :
    .455 in / .468 ex. lift, 260* in. / .262* ex. adv. duration, and 110 centerlines.
    Is that the cam you typed in?

    The cam Im looking at, the TA 112s solid cam specs out at :
    .465 in. / .494 ex. lift, 276* in. / 286* ex. adv. duration, and 110 centerlines.

    I am sorry...I did have the right numbers, but I had forgotten to go back and set it @50 instead of seat-to-seat.....makes a difference.... oops :rolleyes:
    Anyways...here is the graph....the correct one. :jd:

    Cool! Thanks again Mike!Do you think the TA 112s would be a better choce for me or should I stick to a hydralic cam?

    If it was going to be a street cruiser, I myself would opt for the hydralic cam. I don't think I have ever had a Buick with a solid cam in it though, only a few Chevies.
