I am going to temporarily put a Saginaw four speed in a 65 Skylark GS. Need to know if the shifter off of the the T10 will work, with the exception of the reverse rod. (I know the Saginaw is weak, but it is cheap.) If you have experience with this kind of swap, your comments will be appreciated. If you have the necessary reverse rod, I am interested in buying it. Thx,

It'll work, but will require some modification to the shifter. I had a 64 Impala SS (BW T10) stock shifter on a saginaw 4 speed.... I just liked the positive feel and the actually stick itself was super high quality.

I wish i still had the car, or shifter I'd take you some pics... my dad sold it with his Chevy II:Dou:

    Slolark,

Did you modify the shifter itself, or the linkage? I don't want to modify the shifter body as it is an original GS shifter, but I don't mind buying a set of linkage rods to make it work on the Saginaw. I was hoping that a set of rods for a Hurst shifter would work?

sorry about the long response time..... I modified the linkage. The shifter itself was untouched.

Thanks Slolark, I will try to fit the shifter to my tranny when I get it back for the shop. They are going through it so everything works well when installed. I will then try to find some aftermarket linkage to modify to work with my shift. Thanks again.
