I know this is a common occurance. Is the consensus to use the Black Permatex The Right Stuff 90 with no paper gasket? Or Permatex coated on both sides of the paper?

Cut thr bottom of the housing with 180 paper...look for cracks....coat gasket with thin layer of black or Grey prematex

Use the right stuff.....with gasket. If alum intake and prior issues, try to flat file the intake and do a figure 8 with the housing on 400 grit on a flat surface.

As mentioned, the issue is the aluminum stat housing gasket surface gets rounded a bit. You want it flat. I used to use a sharpening stone and some light oil. Doesn't take long. I used to use that Indian Head gasket shellac and the gasket. Once the surfaces are flat, it seals up perfectly.

Thanks all. I have the right stuff gasket maker, will sand the housing a bit to make level then put the gasket maker on both sides of the paper, hand tight let it sit and then torque it down.

I hear a there may be a mopar housing that is cast iron and bolts right up?
