So after I think I figured out what was wrong after doing a tune up, I had the battery wire connected to the tach terminal on the HEI, last night I switched it around and it fired right up! So I pull it into the garage and shut it down. I go out today to start it again and nothing, turns over and over, my new plugs are already looking a bit gassey. So I cranked till the battery slowed then charged the battery again and still nothing, checked all the connections, they all seem tight. Would something in the HEI just start once and then blow. I will check for spark at the plug when my wife gets home but it doesn't feel like it is getting any juice.

    Help again!!

Check out the little wires that go to the pickup assembly in the dist. because these flex all the time and eventually fail . ED

Thanks everyone, I put a module and a coil in $38 for both thought that was pretty cheap, started right up! Now it looks like I have a leak in the return fuel line on the top of the tank, I bet that will be fun to get at! Always something!

kevin, I will be replacing all the rubber fuel lines this winter myself. I had to replace the metal front to tank line last year due to an unforeseen collision with the tranny crossmember when I had to replace THAT due to rusted ends. When i was under there I noticed all my rubber is about shot. I am probably just going to replace the tank, sender, and plumb larger lines back there all at once since I need an electrical "push" pump to feed the new engine. As you said, it is always something and that project should be a ton of fun! Brian
