Hey all, I'd like to stiffen up the power steering effort... Is there a later model or other direct swap steering gear that adds more effort and 'feel' to the steering? Right now it's way too easy like it's Bluetooth steering. I'd like to keep the lock-to-lock ratio if possible. Thanks
Maybe reach out to Hector? http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?th...o-power-steering-box-sale-340-shipped.382691/
There is a kit that you " Modify " PS pressure . You have to remove the Pressure line and relief valve and add shims . I have one of the kits at my other garage but won't be there for a week or so to get the address and info . If I remember correctly it was like $25 or $30 . I thought there was a thread about it here .
I plan to use it on my 69 Electra . As I remember there were several different shims to change the pressure to different levels . I should have the info in a week or so .
GM P/S Pump Pressure Reducing Shim Kit I did this to my car and it did the trick. https://www.borgeson.com/Pumps-Brackets-Hoses-and-Adapters/GM-P-S-Pump-Pressure-Reducing-Shim-Kit/
Nick . Do you remember which shim you used or what you dropped the pressure to ?? I just quickly read the instructions years ago and I think it gave an actual pressure reading drop with the different shims .
I bought one of Hector's steering boxes for my 67. The steering isn't sports car heavy, but it is infinitely better than stock. I actually quite enjoy cruising through twisty backroads in this car and I feel like the steering box is a big contributor to that.
