Finally recieved my 8x15 rallye wheels from Stockton Wheel Co.
I must say they are beautifully finished and straight.
Now I have to decide what tire to put on.Nitto or BFG in a 275x60 radial tire only!
    Car is a 1970 Stage 1 with 3:55 gears.A jim Weise production.

    What has been your experiences??:bglasses:

I run BFG DragRadials, 275/60R15 and have liked them a lot. Decent traction at the track, but definitely not as good as slicks. But you can drive them on the street without every cop looking at you. They are supposed to get about 10,000 miles before going bald. I've done about 3000 and maybe 30-40 trips down the track and I'm about halfway through my set. Over all I'd give them a thumbs up.

I run 275/60/15 drag radials and I love them racing more than I did with the slicks. I got almost 3 years out of my first set and about two years with the second set. (did more racing) Just got the third set a couple days before the Cecil County race, and I'm sure that now my cars going to be a "little" quicker...I'll probably race the car a little more. :)

Drag radials kinda suck though if you get stuck in the rain on the highway and tend to have a heavier right foot than left! Sure makes the stop lights fun though!

By the way...I have a 70 NONstage one GS with 3:90 gears and I DO drive the car to work and to the track on those nice summer days..that I miss already!

I like my Nitto's. The reason I went the Nitto route, is because you get more ware out of them. I've talked with serveral people that have run the both. The 60 ft times are the same, yet you get 50% more life out of the nittos. (so I'm told)

Unless you're primarily concerned with stance, (the 275/60s look great) do a little research on what size to run with 3.55 gears. I have 3.55 and 275/60 DR (28") but will be going to 275/50 (26")next time. This should give me more rpm through the traps and, I hope, higher MPH and lower ET. You might check with those more experiened.

Seems there is a 50/50 split for BFG and Nitto's(Radial only)
As my car has BFG's for the street, the DR I believe have raised letters like the street tire.Simply a visual matching.
However,275/50x15 @ 26"tall match the tire height i now run.

    Too wide for the rear?????

I'm almost certain the 275/50 will fit. Skip Ylhainen just put a set on Mike Millan's car for Vegas.. at least that's what I think he ended up with. Check around on fitment.

MY DR have NO raised white letters. They're two year old; maybe the newer ones do.

I ran Mickey Thompson ET Streets on Mike's car. they are 28x11.5-15 on stock GS rims and no tubes, so I only ran them down to 18 psi. Advertised O.D. is 27.3 with an 8.6" tread width. ?????What Tread?

There was just a test done in, I believe, Hot Rod Magazine. I just quickly glanced at it at the grocery store, but it put the DragRadials on top for performance. Could have been a Chebby mag also, not sure as I just saw the promo for the tire test and grabbed it.

Note, too, that a taller tire gives more traction than a shorter tire.

On my big block cars, a 28" x 9" tire hooked much better than a 26" x 10", all else being equal. And even with 3.08 gears, the taller tire was quicker in the 1/4 mile due to the traction advantage.
