    The only problem I have with black is getting swirl marks out of it. Good body work is good body work, no matter what color it is. I do all my work as if it has to be perfect. A real body man wont do waves. even on white. :beer

    I agree that black can look nice on the GS especially if it is done well.

    As for swirls, I have them in my 87GN's original paint and just can't get them out. I've had it in to a couple different detailing shops to try to get rid of them with no success.

    Here is an exerpt from an article on the subject:

    Color choice basics.

    Color choice is so much more than simply picking a color because you like it. Not every color works on every car. Some will argue to each his own or Its your car, paint it what ever you want. This is true, but you are painting it to look better, right? Why just get color on it for the sake of getting color on it. Why paint your favorite color on it when your favorite color is not going to make the car look its best?

    We have all heard that black will show waves or poor body work. White on the other hand hides them. This is just the start of color choice. We can agree that even though you may love black cars, painting a wavy old beast a cut and buffed black would be wrong. It goes beyond taste, it is just plain wrong, if your desire is a nice looking car.

    There are a few different issues when talking about color choice.

    You want a super nice looking car, prepare it as IF it were being painted black and then paint it another color, THAT is going to be a nice looking car.

    Jason;

    Black is beautiful!!!!!!

    I remember when mine looked that nice; oh, the good ole days. Another year or two and she should be shining again. If I only had more money........lots more money.....

    PS Send me a high resolution photo of the hardtop; I'll make a photo of it to hang in my garage next to the unpainted version.

    Jason, The car looks great. I have a BLACK 71 GS, original factory Stg. 1. It has white bucket interior, A/C, auto, factory wheels and it looks great. The body is arrow straight and it has beautiful paint. It's a great combination, though it is hard to keep clean. At a show, you wipe it down, then start over again. Good luck with it. I still have the GSX. Dennis Lyons
