They do look like stage heads....

Can you get a closer shot?

  3. Nope. These are on ebay, the seller also has chrome stage valve covers from his own car, he claims. Fairly local, thought I would see what they are... he doesn't state they are stage heads, but?

Casting numbers dont mean nothing its whether the valves are nearly touching that matters

I thought stage heads had a little more unshrouding around the intake valve.:Do No:

Hmmm - just how "local"

I had a set stolen last week. Yeah, yeh, that's it...stolen.

Better let me go check 'em out first.

Seriously, I'd say they're Stage 1 heads, or at least a conversion to Stage 1 valve size. Grab 'em if you can!

And if you can't let me know!! :TU:

  8. Twin Cities area is all I know. It's an ebay listing HERE

Low opening bid, long auction. I'll watch it and see what happens.

Look Nice... The only thing I don't like are the 4 broken bolts still in the one head.... But you can't beat that price tag.

    Good luck Dave:TU: :TU:

    Casting number indicates they're 1971's.

Anyone e-mail him to see if they've been checked for cracks?

Here's a pic of non-stage and stage heads. Notice the difference in valve shrouding. Now look at the first picture.

Hey Dave, the only real difference between Stage I heads and non-stage I heads is the valve sizes. You can always unshroud the valves when you have the valve job done, it's no big deal. Stay away from the smog-heads (72-76) I believe but not 100% sure. If going unported, the '68? 430 heads are most desirable because they flow slightly better. If going ported, 67-71 heads are all pretty much the same performance wise, just some oiling differences.

One other thing to consider... the non-stage I heads may be more desirable because the valve seats have not been cut for the 2.12/1.75 combo which means that when you cut them for the oversize valves they will not end up as sunk in the head as a re-cut on stage I would end up. Jmho.

Call me if you need to------------Mark D.

  16. I'm not particularly interested in bidding on any heads, mostly just curious about these, since the seller is/was also selling chrome valve covers from his own Stage 1 motor. The 455 sitting at Jim's shop is a 70 SF block, should be good for some head work later on, if I find any reason to need more HP and TQ... :Brow:
