Don't know if this is the correct place to post this o No: but here goes... Does anyone know the casting # (number on top of piston) on Buick's stage 2 455 pistons? Thanks, Guy
This probably isn't what you are looking for but in the Facts and figures book it says the part# is 1394878 for a 455 stg 2 forged piston and was noched for valve clearance. The std. 455 & stg1 had the casting # inside the skirt. Though they were cast. obviously.
What I recall... Is the stage 2 pistons were forged, not cast, and something like 11:1. I doubt they would have stamped the part number on them. Also, I think I read here a few years ago that GM screwed up the part ordering number. Try a search, or maybe someone else recalls the details... o No:
oop's, wrong wording. I should have said "stamped", not "cast" number. Anyways...I picked them up and just by looking at em they are Stage 2 pistons. "Stamped" on each one is 1238359 and the name "BUICK" under that. :TU: And BTW, they are stamped on top...oh and of coarse. forged. Once again, Thanks for the help! :TU: Guy
Coming along VERY nicely!! Guy, A while back, I resized and posted some pics for you to document the progress of this car. Do you still have them? I think they might have fallen victim to the big crash the board had a few months ago. I honestly think you should start a thread dedicated to documenting ALL the progress with this one of a kind car. :Brow: Unfortunately, I don't have those photos kicking around but I'm going to look around (here) and see if I can find them... Keep up the awesome progress!! :TU:
Thank You! Brett, I'll never forget what you had done for me when I was new to the board:TU: And I thank you for that. What goes around, comes around (in a good way) and I owe you one for that. Working really hard to get the car done for Salem, so maybe after that I can get some pictures in order. Thanks for the kind words on the car... Guy
Guy, Do you still need the numbers for the Stage 2 piston? I THINK I might have them in a Buick book. Also, Nice job on your car. In this book that may have the numbers has some pictures of your car in it. 1 of the GREATEST Cars in the World! :3gears: :beer Anthony
Anthony- Thanks for the help! Much appreciated. Got the answer I was looking for :TU: To say I'm excited to have this car completed is an understatement.
Guy- Wow! Your car looks great! It's coming along very very well! :TU: Can't wait to see it at one of our meets.
Gawd, I about fell out of my chair when I saw the pic!!! I have dreamed of cloning that car since I first saw it in Martyn L. Schorr's Buick: The V-8 and V-6 Performance Years book in 1984. To know that it still exists and will see the light of day again is just beyond words. I can't wait to see it in person. Big time hats off to you, Guy. You are doing all of us a great service preserving (and racing, I hope) that car.
Thanks Guys! Believe me, it will go down the drag strip a time or two...it was born a drag car :3gears: So far things look great for it being in Salem this Aug. :beer
Cool Guy, I would be Very excited too, and I am with only getting my 73 GS done. Like I said, I have an info on your car. I'll try to scan it over. It's in a book. Anthony
