Anyone out there with a Stage 2 Motor and T/A Headers ? My question is, if you look at the headers and envision the motor being moved back exactly 3/4 of an inch would the headers hit anywhere ? ? (Mainly on the A-Arm supports) ? ? Last year I moved my motor backwards exactly 3/4 of an inch and this year I will have a Stage 2 motor with T/A headers. I'm hoping the new motor will fit without hitting anything but it was super close with the Stage 1 motor so I'm thinking with bigger primary tubes I may be out of luck. (Old tubes were 1 7/8" and I'm assuming T/A headers are 2" ?) If anyone with a Stage 2 motor can take a look at header clearance that would be great ! (Stage 2 Track eliminator heads) Thanks for the info Todd / DiecastMusclecars.com 10 Second Streeter 70 GS www.diecastmusclecars.com/buickgs.htm
clearance Todd I was looking at moving my engine back a couple of years ago I was looking at 1.5 inchs but there was no way it would work cleanly. I had built a set of motor mounts for this and i had a block bolted in but when I looked at header clearance there was maybe .5 to .75 clearance to the fire wall you might make it work but it will be tight. You may find clearance issue around the lower a arms also. Good luck
I would think the Bellhousing bolts would be near impossibile to reach on the top too. I doubt there would be enough benefit from 3/4" to make it worth the hassle. PS When will they make a Die-Cast GS "Racecar"?
Too TIGHT!!! Mine is back about 3/4"or 1"......... Nedded three holes in the floor board for access to trany bolts A little "tap-tap" to the passenger firewall And the drvers side lower control arm rear mount needs ALOT of grinding....... Not to mention if you need to get the tranny out its a good bit of work to get it by the flywheel with solid motor mounts...:blast: But THAT IT. HA HA uzzled:
