What with all the fender ornaments? Looks like a pretty nice car but I've never seen a Skylark/GS with turn signal incators(?) and what ever the other thing on the D/S fender is o No:
If you will notice although it is a nice low mileage car the rust monster has struck down low. It shows you how even low mileage southern cars can get btten by it.
I believe this one spent many years up North, the guy told me he got it from the original owner's son after the guy's father died. He lived in New York many years.
I'm with Andy, what's with all the stuff on the fenders? Before I say that stuff doesn't belong there..............
The eyeball looking thing on the drivers fender is a "Twilight Sentinel" which senses darkness and automatically turns on your headlights. The larger bulbus chrome caps on the fronts of the fenders are front light monitors - they tell you if your lights are on. I'm guessing the smaller ones are the turn signal indicators.
i know i'm not 2 bright but why does a floor shift car have the gear layout in the speed odom..? is this correct scott 1964 wildcat 425 2-4bbls 4-speed
So I take it that the two turn knobs on the A pillar panel are apart of the headlight sensing system? What about the chrome rectangular piece that sits below the windshield wiper button, what is it for? I can't read what it says on it.
Under the dash says Guide Matic whatever that is. I can't figure what the upper accessory button right of the clock is for either. They say there's an 8 track but I don't see it. The only thing I can pick out that it doesn't have is rear shoulder belts. Amazing to see a Stage1 car with every accessory I've heard of on it except one, and with a few others I haven't. I bet the window sticker was two pages long. Doesn't look like a big rust problem to me. You know that had to be a special ordered car by someone who "wanted it all".
Me either - that's usually where the power top motor switch goes on a convertible (it even states 'UP/DN'). I have no idea what it could be hooked into on a coupe. I wonder how many options are 'not original'. Still - a very cool car. Oh Bill, I know it's not green, but...
That accessory switch...could it be for a power antenna? This car has more options than any I have seen. Definitely different...but it looks cobbled together, like something built from of several parts cars.
I agree Glen - it's a rolling dealer brochure 1970 had the antennae in the windshield. Without proof (which someone can run the VIN at Sloan for $25), I'm inclined to state many items were add-ons...including the hood pins.
Cruise control is on the end of the directional lever. The lower one is for rear defrost and the middle square is a greenplastic lense that indicates the cruise is on. The upper maybe be for power to the rear defrost, cause it looks like it says off/on and the lower says hi/low. I know I am right about the cruise indicator, because mine has cruise and the module is on his drivers side wheel well.
stage 1 I like the color scheme but the fender ornamentation and trunk emblems are to clustered for me and by the look of the trunk some patches welded in , i think sloan docs and a personal up close inspection of the body frame are in order, like they say white hides alot. Bill
The twilight sentinel ( whichb I do not like personally as it mounts on the fender) has a controller mounted inside pictured above . The car is very interesting . I have never seen all these options on one car before . The cruise contoller is in the correct place , I wish I had the jack to even go see it . I have a question to the seller about the codes and matching numbers on the engine /tran/rear they contacted me and said they will provide these . My wifes Suncoupe has several of these options but she would never let me install a sentinal or the hood locks ( darn)
