I have a 70 engine code SR, GS 455 right? I looked for the serial number with the intention of posting it in the lost and found section, however the number on the front of the block is 97538WER the same number is on the head right above it. any clue to this?.... I did look in between the plugs no numbers other than the SR and date code there.
My 69 400 has the number stamped on the block behind the power steering bracket. Freemont car built in June. Try looking there.
Look real close at the block area around the dipstick, there might be another letter, it may be a XR ? Just guessing, really have no idea... Bert
David, the 97.... number is the one behind the power steering brkt. the same number is on the head, any how I was looking to get it back to the original owner, if the car still exists, but no VIN number is found.
