Speaking from a Motorhead point of view, I had a great summer!

Despite a rainier season than normal, I managed to have a great gearhead summer. I got my Regal roadworthy in late June just in time to go to the last few hours of one of the biggest car cruise's in our area. After that, I went to every cruise I could and had fun. The car only broke down once (water pump) and I drove it often. I also manged to go bracket racing three times this summer. I only got handed a losing slip one time! I also have had a loaner motorcycle since August and with PA repealing the helmet law, I was able to really enjoy riding. Thats about it. I pretty much feel my Regal shoulda blown up at any given time seeing how its such a low buck project. But it held together nicely. I do have a syncro going bad, but who cares, summers over. Yeah.......It was a good gearhead summer. How was yours?

Not too bad over here, although I did find out that I labored mightily on bodywork last spring only to discover this year that other areas I didn't touch on the car need to be re-done:af: I hate paying for lousy work! The guy who I paid to "remove and replace" rust on my rear quarters 5 years ago better hope I never catch up with him. Because I might require a lawyer if I ever do. Hey, Bozo: remove the rusty panels before you put good sheetmetal on the car!!

This season I went to some cruises and good shows, met some cool Buick guys in the flesh, saw Ray's GSX take third at a show (ain't seen him around here much, he must be into his new Gutless, er, I mean 442 project too much-just kidding Ray  ) and had some decent weather, although it stayed cool late into spring and as soon as September was half over, temps dropped 15-20 degrees around here.

I did some homework on new camshafts that will compliment aluminum Stage 1 heads best given my build up, didn't have any major mechanical failures at all, all season, ran the car hard and she begged for more, got a great sounding, good looking, and exceptionally professionally installed 2.5" exhaust with mandrel bends and welded mufflers, I was able to help some Buick guys with paragraphs from my chassis manual, gave insight on how to avoid the pitfalls I jumped into on my car, and the best part- I was unemployed, making enough in my unemplyment insurance checks to not worry about the job, I had fully recovered from my many, er, medical mishaps, and so I got to enjoy a lot more of the summer than usual.

next year I will get some Al. heads, new cam bearings and probably a TA 212 cam, or maybe if I find more info on some split duration cams I will look into that type, get a new timing cover/oil pump assembly (...fix lousy bodywork...AGAIN), get my rear seat recovered, get my Q-jet rebuilt and install that...let's see, what else? Oh yeah, I'm gonna try to make it to the BPG event on August 12- that's my birthday:TU:

    Shortymac83 Not Your Father's Olds!

Same here! My car actually went an entire season without breaking down, and it was the first summer with it's new paint job, so I think I'm finally getting all the bugs worked out. Started the summer out a week after graduation by taking the Olds to the East COast (carlisle and Gettysburg PA, DC, Arlington, williamsburg, Woodstock VA). That was a great trip. 85+ MPH all the way through Ohio on one tank of gas (average 24 MPG!!!). Oh, and if you guys go to DC, I dare you not to cry at the Vietnam and Korean war memorials and the Arlington cemetery. My officer in high school was a tunnel rat in 'Nam and most of his platoon died when they were bushwhacked in 67. I found most of the guys he mentioned on the wall. That is by far one of the saddest things I've ever seen. Anyway, the Olds made it there and back without a hiccup. No one cold believe it. Also went to Norwalk for the Olds meet, and met a bunch of great guys with my Dad. He was completely enamored by all the people and comradeship that now HE wants an Olds to get into it with! ack. So yeah, it's been pretty good. Next summer, if everything pans out, I'll be taking it to California and back! now THAT will be a test of man and machine vs. teh elements!:Dou:

Good Summer for me too! No problems whatsoever with my new 525" and my car keeps getting faster. So far, it's been a lot of fun and I even won a little money while I was enjoying myself. It's been a long time coming! :TU:
