Anybody know the factory power output of an SP 350? Also curious about specs such a comp. and cam lift/duration. Anything else special about them such as:intake/exhast manifolds, carb etc?

    brblx clueless

factory was i think 315 bhp and 410 ft lbs, but i'd have to look it up. compression i've heard as 9.5:1, 10.25:1....no idea who's right.

i would also like to know the cam specs, since i'm looking at putting a new one in soon.

    70 SP 350 Specs

    Hope this helps!

    1970 Buick 350 "SP"
    HP- 315
    C.R. 10.25 to 1
    Carb- Rochester 4MV-7040245-man trans
    Carb -Rochester 4MV-7040244-auto trans
    Head cc- 48.0 (1233472,1240143)
    Piston height/volume- .075" / 17.3cc's
    Cam lift 382/398

According to the information I have all 1970 Buick 350's, including the 2bbl, use the same head casting and valves.
And both 4bll engines share the same carb and intake manifold (1231924) as well

It appears the only difference was the cam and pistons between both 4bbl options.

My 71 350 has 9.5 compression, a holley 750 double pumper, accel equiped HEI, K&N filter, ported stock intake, headers, elec. fuel pump and a .469 lift/.268 duration comp cam. What kind of power numbers do you think I have? How much will the TA intake I'm ordering increase those numbers? Also what do you think my 1/4 mile times would be; car is a 79 regal, TH400, 2400 stall, 3.08 gears and 2.5'' flowmaster exhast?

    Thanks

    Re: 70 SP 350 Specs

The same cam was used in the 350 engine 1968 through 1972 (and possibly in later years as well).

    Same Cam???

    Marco,
I think it was you who showed me the web site with the engine specs (NHRA I think). It is from there that I got this info. It lists 3 different cam lift specs for the 3 different 70 350 options. What gives?

    :Do No:

    :error:

You got me Jake! You're right - the NHRA page lists three different cams for the 1970 350. I always believed that the 350 cams were identical. I'll try to do some research and see what I can come up with.

Sorry for the confusion - we'll get to the bottom of this sooner or later.

Anyone have a 1970 original parts catalog? We need to know if multiple 350 cams were available.

    Different Cams

Marco, I don't have a parts catalog. But I do have what I believe is the original cam from the SP 350 I stripped apart. Are there part #'s on a stock cam? I will look at it when I get a chance.

Can anyone give me a rough estimation on this?

Both my father and my uncle worked at a Buick dealership in the '60's, early '70's. They are Buick performance enthusiasts since the mid '50's.

The Buick 350's all used one part number for their cam. The only variation on the Buick 350's (accurate for '68 - '72 only) are the pistons and distributors.

Heads, intakes, valves, ex. manifolds, etc. were all the same.

For '73 and up, we don't know what cam was used. I would bet it was a smaller profile with a few degrees of retard (the cam, not me).
