It's that time. Before I drop in carpet and all the other interior components, I need to do whatever possible to keep as much of the exterior sound and heat OUTSIDE the car!!!
    :bglasses:

So if some of you would do me a favor and fill me in on what I need to use on the floor pan, doors, ceiling, firewall, rear bench seat, etc,,etc,,etc to keep out the outside noise and of course the heat from the engine and the climate since I am in Hawaii, I would be greatful.

    Thanks-n-Aloha!

    GS Condition

My 69 GS455 is completely bare. Interior is completely stripped from floor to ceiling and from front to rear. No panels, carpet, dashpad, headliner. NOTHING!
    :Comp:
    Does that help?
    Aloha...

Ok, now that I have a minute, let me give you some input.

First, if you have'nt already, clean and prep floors and firewall. Don't be lazy here and you won't have to deal with this again. Remove all old seam sealer/body sealer. Scrape it off and sand/wire brush everything clean. Wire or sand clean and dry all floors and firewall. Anywhere you may have dealt with minor rust etc, go ahead and spray some primer. Then replace all the seam sealer with new. Should take 2 or 3 tubes. If you need help with how to do this or where to get some, let me know. It's pretty easy.

Now, here's the choice part. If you want to go super quiet inside, you have some options. The best way is to paint the floor pans and firewall with some rubberized bed liner. 2 or 3 cans. But, if you do, you need to tape off really well so you don't get it everywhere and cover any mounted threads or seat bolts. Some will say painting the pans takes away from the stock value and may ask future buyers to wonder what you were covering up. I think that's a bunch of nonsense. You can spray the cieling too.

You will need to buy a few new things:
Undercarpet insulation kit. It's that heavy black matt stuff that came out in pieces way back when you gutted the car. If you used the bedliner spray then dont go glue crazy with the insulation matts. You only need a little to hold them in place when you install the carpet.

Firewall insulation pad and headliner insulation kit.
All these kits and pads can be bought from Yearone.com

That should do it. If you're really into it, spray that rubber stuff inside the doors too. I did mine to also help with water flow. I used it in the drip tanks aswell. You should make sure your drip tanks are clear of leaves and dirt so water can flow freely through and out through the rocker panels instead of through your kick panels and in to your new floor and carpet.

    Good luck, keep me posted.
