This top was installed a couple of years ago and it was fine until recently, when I noticed this problem. I hate to have to take the top off to deal with it, but I'm afraid it may tear the vinyl at some point. Wondering if anyone knows what it might be coming through, and if there might be some way to deal with it without taking the top off. Thanks.

It's a staple, tack or screw. If you take it someplace they can fix it w/o removing the top. when the top is 1/2 or 3/4 down, you can get your hand or a pair of needle nose in there. That's really close to the end cap, so might have to take that off and lift that strip a bit. I had a couple staples like that on my car in the same place but further from the cap and was able to pull them. One thing...that end cap...you can see it's digging in the top. Original end caps had like a flange around them, they repro those now, but not exact. Top can stay on to fix the prob. That top looks nice, I would pay 50.-100. to have that fixed NOW, if I had to. Caps like this, but originals had a more pronounced flange. Originals were stainless and would have lasted 3 lifetimes, but morons threw them away like starter brackets. These are probably tin with chrome plating. http://www.ebay.com/itm/52-76-GM-Co...ash=item2c87a38572:g:oLcAAOSwPe1TyqP4&vxp=mtr

You knew someone had to feed off that straight line. The top should come off to do the job right.
