how good is the buick 350 in the top rpm range does it die up in there pretty much like the 231??? i am now on the burden of replacing my v6 and im wondering whether a buick is a better choice because of its easeness, or go the complicated way and do an olds transplant (seems a bit too much work), how good can the buick 350 be? can i pull pretty hard thru most of its rpm range or what? as i understand it if i were to go for an olds 350 i would have to get all the bracketry and mounts and put the battery in the other side and what not, i know this is a buick board im not dissing and the olds seems a lot of work, also what car should i look for to find a buick 350 besides those electra wagons??? by the way the car is an olds cutlass supreme g-body set up pretty much like those regals? what do u guys think the best route is??

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Go with the Buick 350, all the brkts from the 231 will fit the 350. You will need to shorten your fan shroud since the V8 will be closer to the rad.
As for the Buick 350, it will be excellent. Buicks don't need to be hi-rev engines because they produce so much torque.

If you do any hard launces, you will blow your flimsy 7.5" rear.

As for finding a 350, any 68-80 Buick can have one. Best bet is 70-77 Regals, LeSabres, Century, Electras. I would stick with the 70-2 versions, no EGR and better performance.

I'm doing the same swap you are in my 84 Cutlass, I don't plan to rev the engine to the moon I expect the torque should get me going with out reving to 6 grand.

As I pull my old v6 I plan to take some pictures along the way, then some more as I put the 350 in, but it will be a few weeks at least.
