Ebay descriptions really piss me off :af:

    Ebay Item

It states "FACTORY DIRECT TO YOU NEW IN THE BOX GM NUMBER 3014782 " which implies it's a GM part, but it never outright states it. So...the heater core arrives today and it's a 'Ready-Aire' brand heater core, part #39 8226 made in Mexico.

    Is this thing any good?

Also, the blower motor, which I'm also led to believe is GM part #4960538 turns out to be a 'Murray' brand, part #35587 made in Canada.

    Is this thing any good?

    Here's the correspondence -
What would you do, and are these (non-GM) parts any good?

Marco when was your GS built? early 70 late 70? Is your blower motor bad?

    Early '70 (11D actually - 4th week November 1969)

Blower motor is not bad, but while we're in there, I figure to replace anything that can possibly go bad in the near future.

Send them back for a refund if you don't like them. Is the squirrel cage plastic on your new one?

    How about a different question.

I've found four different manufactures of heater cores. Can anyone provide any feedback on any of these four brands?

    Thanks!

    • READY-AIRE
    • FOUR SEASONS
    • GO/DAN
    • STANT

    Thanks!

I've found out that GM part #3014782 is an old number, and it now cross references to part # 52484058 (GMparts direct $37.92)

Can anyone give me an update for part #4960538?

Would GM be a better heater core than ready aire?

    misleading at best

hi marco i find the item description to be a bit misleading at best. i do think the guy is trying to make people think its a GM part when he knows its not. nowhere in the listing could i find him say that its an aftermarket part. not a good way do do business in my opinion. stant is the only brand i recognize there, maybe four seasons. i think i would write the seller with my concerns and see about a refund if i didnt want aftermarket. correct GM may be hard to find though. i guess if you used pay-pal you could do a charge back. sellers should make it clear what brand they are selling. who made them for GM ? harrison ? if you deal with cars out of NJ, they list things in thier catalog as being nos GM and i paid the higher price to get nos GM but they send aftermarket brake drums. i bet they wonder why i wont buy from them anymore. i know they read on this board and i stand by my statement. dont charge me for one thing and ship me something else, its just plain wrong.
