    Who is grumpy on Mondays?

As I read my post I clearly see the words "Your right Tom". Hardly seems like arguing.

I just know about your aversion to anything over a 1/2 ton. With your snore face you made it pretty clear in your mind the truck was not a factor.

Where this guy, regardless of speed, towing experience, heroin use, cannot refute his truck was overloaded. An overload he will have a hard time dismissing as a major factor in wrongful death.

So regardless of the fear your kidneys will fall out, the law sides with factory ratings. :)

    Load rating

My 1/2 ton is rated to pull 8800 lbs. With either my Vette or the Rustang on my open trailer, it barely squats...Of course it's also only about 6,000 lbs. I wouldn't want to haul a 28' enclosed trailer w/ it.

An F-250? WHat the hell was he towing that he is getting sued and his insurance company disowned him? A house???

My 2002 Durango 5.9 with 3:90 gears is rated at almost 8,000 lbs. I tow and brake with relative ease when I am hauling my Buick.

There is more to this story than I have read no doubt.

thanks casey , i put a link on moparts , it should be interesting considering the number of members that tow over the ability of their tow vehicle just because it will do it .

i finally bought an open trailer and spent more than i expected for the tongue and ball just to get to something that was at and above my trailers 7000 GVW only to find my hitch is rated to 5000 lbs unless i spend about 600 plus for a weight distributing hitch setup . its about 330 for the hitch rated to 10k .

what is going thru dodges head to put that wimpy hitch on something rated to pull close to 12000 pounds ? , 2500 Cummins 4x4

now i need to see what my GCVWR is

1/ Because the bean counters are running the company, not the engineers.
    2/ Because 9 out of 10 customers don't care.

    Grumpy on Tuesdays too,eh?

My kidneys are fine, thank you :TU:
I wasn't referring to anything Casey said :Smarty:
Maybe I was just making a statement? :moonu:
Quit trying to assume what I'm thinking, heck, I don't even know what I'm
    thinking half the time.
But, now that you mention it, if a guy chooses to haul his car on an open
trailer with a 1/2 ton truck, and everything is up to snuff(trailer brakes, good
brake controller, properly rated and inflated tires on both truck and trailer) and
the GVW is not exceeded, then there should be no issue.
The  went out to a clown in the link who wants to use nasty names
to describe anyone who uses a 1/2 ton truck to tow with.

    So...........
more power to those who can and choose to be Superman and drive an F550
363 days a year getting 8mpg, just so they can tow 2 days a year

Oh yeah, Daves grandson told me to tell you, asdklghsdfligsnbdfovisdfgiushdfg

I think load weight and total weight is important to factor. As it all becomes one big mass in certain situation and others it two different ones with different minds.
A 4000lb truck rated to pull 8000lbs will lose in the battle of physics. If that 8000lb trailer say " I want to go that way".

But on the other hand all that weight natural wants to corporate. And you can get away with allot as it seams work 99% of the time.
And it does well till all the factors add up against you.

1/2 ton trucks with open trailers are OK

Translated it means "My Grandpa says buy at least a 3/4 ton truck"

Geesh, even Daves Grandson knows that!

Regarding towing twice a year, how did your basket case GTO get to your house, to the paint shop, back from the paint shop and to Martin?

Hey you said it, I'm just asking how all this was done without towing more than twice?

Oh yea.... just to say again..... the quote was "Your right Tom" regarding your "statement" :TU:
