Donald - lookin GOOD !! :beer

Paul - first off - look at Donald's bezel - see how it has a buick plate on the left where yours has an air vent ?? Thats because '68 didnt have the flo-through ventillation and had wing windows instead. Bezels are the same though, and you could put your vent into a 68 bezel.

When looking for a "good" bezel, you want to make sure it has BOTH left and right side mounting ears. There's also two phillips screws that go UP into the dashpad

Yeah....your decklid is definately not from GS origins (also definately not a 70....68/69 shared some sheetmetal but those two years share NO sheetmetal with 70-72 or earlier). ALL 69 GS's had moldings that ran on the bottom lip of the trunk lid as well as two smaller extension pieces on the lower quarter portion of the trunk. These 3 pieces are next to impossible to find in good condition as they're pot metal. ALL 69 GS's also had the swing away GS emblem / key cover.

Skylark and Skylark Customs had the quarter extension moldings and the lower trunk molding but the trunk piece was a bit different with the letters BUICK attached to the upper surface. Special Deluxe's did not receive any of the trunk moldings and only got the BUICK letters.

Sooo.....I dont know what you have :Do No: In most likelyhood, it had some repair (either rust or accident) work done, they replaced the lid and didn't have good moldings to use so they probably filled in the holes. Look tor signs of holes on the inside lower lip of the decklid and the quarter extensions.

It also looks like your drivers' side mirror is incorrect - is it remote from inside on the door panel ?? do you have a better picture of it ?? I have a few really nice non-remote ones when and if you're ready.

    Here's a pic of a 69 GS grille

The mirrors are not remote. I promised myself i would work on the dash first (if the wife lets me before i finish the basement :Brow: ) Man, that bezel looked great! yeah, i figured the trunk lid was different. i can live with it, but i know if i come across one it's outta there! Thanks for the pics of the grill, sure looked nice. Your a lucky guy! Got to fix a leaky oil pan tomorrow so i get can this thing on the road at least. Well, that and insurance and plates... I'll keep you in mind when i start working on the door panels for the mirror. I just won a Sonomatic off ebay and now have to get a bezel. I'll just keep pluggin up those holes!

The Grille isn't mine - Frank McIntyre is reporducing them - thats one of his Repro's - they go fir $599 I think. I paid $650 for a NOS one about 6 years ago ... until Frank just started repro'ing them they were up over $1000 if you could even find one

Radio bezels aren't that hard to come buy - in fact I think I have a few. let me look tonight. they're not expensive at all.

Ok, I'm hoping someone has run into this... As i said before, i have a Chevy 350 in my buick and i had some oil leaks i presumed was coming from the oil pan. Last night i replaced the ancient over-rtv'd gaskets with some fresh cork. Couldn't get the whole oil pan out because of the tranny, but did it blindly and very slow. When i was putting it back together i noticed that the top of the oil pan and the timing chain cover don't line up flush and there is about a 1/4" gap left there. The guy before me had stuffed it full of RTV. I talked to another guy that has supposedly worked with these engines and said this is a typical oil leak issue with them. RTV'ing it back up was his best solution. After doing so i am almost wondering if it would be better to get really deep and pull the head off the block and replace that cover? Wondered if anyone had any advice or had run into this before...
