So, I need to replace the compressor on my 1976 Electra, which one should I get?

I am sure most everyone remembers a time you could get a "decent" rebuilt A6 compressor at any parts store that would last a few years at least. Now, everything I read is the ones you find are just crap, and will give out quickly.

Any thoughts on the companies below? Same one with different model numbers? Go with someone else?
I'm getting confused as it is.
    Thanks!

Here is what Rock Auto shows, are the Four Seasons units new? good , bad, indifferent? (just checked same model # has a 3.7 out of 5 on amazon, but no actual reviews)

The Original air compressor (man, $75 extra in black!) https://www.originalair.com/s6-compressor-new

Here's an Old Air Products 1962-1976 Pro6Ten Compressor, says it's for 1963 to 1976 Rivs, you would think it would work, but why not mention the other full sized Buicks?

I see they list full size Pontiacs and Cadillacs so it should work for the big Buicks too. Though there may be some minor difference for the big Buicks which is why they are not listed. I would call them to confirm.

If your old one is in good condition, get a seal kit, watch a few youtube videos and reseal it yourself. It's fairly easy.

You can even get a modern lip seal to replace the ceramic seal.

Do yourself a favor and buy a new A6 ( newly manufactured ) from ALMA industries in MI. ALMA makes rebuilt A6, but a new one was my bet for my 63 Riviera. Works real good.
At this stage of the game UNLESS budget restricts and new A6 gets my money.

Now you guys tell me! ;)
Ok, I did a fair amount of research, so decent review on the pro6Ten compressors, so I got aPro6Ten compressor. This is my first time ever messing with a compressor. (on the 20th)I am pretty broke, so I purchased it via amazon (Old Air products, and using Affirm to pay monthly) there were 2 choices, got the one with the super heat switch. When my back was up to doing the swap, saw there were differences from the supposedly original compressor from 1976. On the old black one, that wire I hold in my right hand in the 3rd pic, was hiding this...switch? in the new aluminum cased compressor, there is no place for that to plug into. Also, the is a prong plug that you see that in the 5th photo, but the original compressor it was the opposite (can't think how to say this clearly, wires plugged into the compressor) Do you all think this is the correct compressor for this car? Oh, I saw ZERO instructions in the box, I assume those bright green seals on the ports on the back of the compressor are, what they look like, and shouldn't be taken out, but, I can see someone thinking they were some sort of protection to be removed. had to install the new compressor as I couldn't leave the lines just bouncing around...sigh...

well, still trying to find out what to do with the connections, front and rear, that don't match up. Any forum I saw talk about this compressor (of course most were Chevy sites) it was just a direct bolt in, no issues at all....
I've called Old Air Products (should have done that sooner) waiting on them to call me back

The green O rings are compliant with the new freons. Take a look at the plugs, I think the old plugs into the new. I think you need to pull your heat switch and install it in the new compressor. It will work without it which connects to the brown wire, it just will not blow the fuse if it builds too much heat-pressure.

RedfanF1, thanks! How would you suggest pulling that heat switch?

ok, got the compressor in, took it to a retired Delta mechanic friend who has Nitrogen, etc to make sure it wasn't leaking, and could be charged.
everything was "fine" except, the high pressure side was about 270 I think. Air was 50, then after about 15 minutes it was down to 42 degrees in the center vent.
He said to replace the clutch fan, that he had read somewhere that you could get higher pressure numbers with a weak fan, plus he said about a dozen times, you need a parallel style condenser, R134a doesn't work in these original ones. (Of course, the last 2 cars I've had worked quite well with all the original a/c equipment one for 10years, another for 5)
Driving today, seemed like there was quite a drag, with the a/c on. Felt like I had lost 40 HP. but other than that, fine, til we got home for a 20 mile drive, idling for about 10 minutes at one point.
The Clutch felt super hot to me, and I smelled...something slightly burnt smelling. Thought the belt might have been a bit too tight , loosened it.
That black...thing, that looks like a muffler, that has the low pressure line you add R-134a . I assume it's supposed to get fairly hot? (Again never had the air working on this particular car, can't remember if my 77 Regal had this )
So....it was hot/humid, and looking at some youtube videos, high pressure readings go up , the hotter it is.
thoughts? Anything else cause such high pressure readings? (oh, and I thought I heard a hiss , perhaps through the V.I.R. replacement device?) Sigh....
